http://www.king5.com/news/business/118878559.html Nine people died at 6 different hospitals at in Alabama. The bags were contaminated with bacteria. Now the hospitals are claiming that every person that died was critically ill before being treated with the infected bags & would have died anyway. My first thought is that they do NOT know when any of those 9 would have died nor how long each would have survived!!! Secondly, there is a law where I live that if you are even remotely involved in the deed where somebody dies, then you are automatically guilty!!! If I rob a bank & a teller has a heart attack & dies, then I go to jail for manslaughter in addition to the bank robbery charges. Recently in North Carolina, 2 men were stealing copper from a local power plant. One guy was watching out for the cops while the other stole the copper wire. Well, the smart guy wasn't as smart as he thought he was & managed to get electrocuted. Now the watch out guy is facing charges for the death of his friend. I understand that the employee at the pharmacy probably didn't do this on purpose, but they did create the deaths. The guy stealing the copper didn't mean for his friend to die, but he did. To me, it's the same principle!!! Somebody screwed up & somebody died. Now, my other thought is...as smart as doctors are, they just don't know when we're going to die!!! Their educated guess may be a bit closer than my uneducated guess; but they just don't know when!!! I had a friend who was told she had less than a month to live, yet she lived 5 more years. I worked with a guy whose wife was told she had 6 months on the outside & she lived for 8 more years. My point...NOBODY knows how long those 9 people would have lived if it weren't for the contaminated bags!!!! NOBODY knows what those 9 people could have experienced if their life hadn't been cut short!!! What are your thoughts on this???

Hospitals should be held accountable and face the consequences for their deeds. We look to hospitals for our care and security when we are ill or injured. The carelessness of a hospital should not go unnoticed.

With what they charge now days, I totally expect them to be accountable to me for my health!!! I understand they might not be able to save my life, but I do expect them to NOT end it unnecessarily!!!! I bet the family still receives a bill for their loved one's stay.

Heck look at the people who have broken into someones house and were bitten by the family pet and then sued them. It seems to me at times the law only protects the guilty or the largest wallet. I think the place that made the IV bags should be held accountable. The bacteria did not appear out of no where. Their entire operation needs immediate attention. I think the families of the lost individuals as well as the ones that were contaminated should seek justice no amount of money will bring them back or heal the ones infected any sooner. However they need to be made aware that if they are not going to maintain extreme safety measures they do not need to be in business.

they need to be made aware that if they are not going to maintain extreme safety measures they do not need to be in business. I agree. Anybody can make a mistake, but 9 mistakes is sloppy business!!! I'm not a huge fan of suing people, but I don't feel the company should be allowed to continue business as usual!!! It's obvious to me that they are in it ONLY for the money & don't give a rat's azz about the patients their product is being used on!!!!
