Why do they say Sri lanka are favourites when they are not?

SL won against out -of -form england in the quarterfinal and NZ in Semis which is 7th in ICC rankings. But India played and won against the no. 1 team in the world in the QF,australia, and our arch rival Pakistan in the semis in a high pressure match. Then why do many say that SL are favourites! If you look at their batting line up they don't have the depth. They depend too much on top order. Also, this is home ground of India,so they might not make a pitch that helps spinners since murali is playing. And, Malinga is a bowler who bowls at 150kph.So he will provide enough pace to the batsmen to hit it far.

Malinga is one of the dangerous bowler in the srilankan side, we must fear him, and our batsmen should carefully play out his overs, the rest of the bowlers is not so threatening as far as i think, so all the best to the india team.

You say SL won out-of-form England ? Then why Indian couldn't beat 'out-of-form England'? Australia is not the no. 1 team anymore. They are weak at the sub continent. SL depends too much on the top Order ? India depends way too much on the top order. And even the top order made a good start, they struggle to capitalize on the start they get. Do you think Malinga balls to others so that they can bat well? World has seen very few bowlers like malinga. And pace is one thing. Line, length and the angle of Malinga's balls makes it deadly. Watch out of his yorkers.

India played 2 finals before the final. But it was too easy for SL to defeat nz and eng with their spin bowling, which is not going to work against a sub continent team like pakistan ...and australia plays like a champion team in knockout games, even thoguh they are not no:1 in rankings. And, india need not defeat England...Bangladesh and Ireland have done that!

Dear Ravi! The Srilankan Team is in excellent form. They have a better bowling line an the top three bats man are not only good but presently they are in very fantastic form. They have the dedication and determination to make the match turn as per their wish! They normally don't get easily fall to the pressure of opponent team! The killing instinct of this has made this team so successful in very short time! But then so far in India Sri Lanka never won any match against India. India is having fantastic batting line and luckily the bowlers pest and reformed quite well ib the previous match! The fielding of the Indian players has got tremendously improved in last two matches. And the biggest point and advantage is that Indian team performs well against tough teams, this has been always the characteristic of our team! So there is no worry about the match and winning! Now I don't really understand who has told you that Sri lankans are favorites ? In the betting market India is getting odds of 0.47 and for Srilanka odds are 1.45, so India is favorite more than 3 times as compared to Sri Lanka! So dear Ravi, don't take any tension and just relax and enjoy the match to see that India wins tomorrow in a great Way! All he best to you and to the Indian Team! Thanks !

may be people believe that the srilankans bowling and fielding is better than indias. nothing else. just get rid of the top 3 and it would be way too easy for team india but the trick is getting the top 3 out. if they let tharanga and dishan to get yet another 200 + partnership, india is doomed

srilanka is a good team to be in final. quality of the teams which they defeated is not at all a matter. the only thing that matters is the quality of cricket they will put in 2mrws match. I am sure that they are good contenders for india in the finals. both teams are the strong asian teams and stay top in the rankings. And surely as an Indian i hope that india will win the cup.

Srilanka has played consistently and their comprehensive wins in the knockouts has indicated that they are peaking well. India is peaking well too but since India has played more competitive matches all players are match fit and are confident of bouncing back from tight situations. The tie with England and the close match which we lost to SA showed India in good light for their fighting qualities alone. Against Pakistan it was clear that India was the side which handled pressure better. They were able to hang on grimly when the going was tough and at the 35 th over of Pakistan's batting it was clear that India had gained the upper hand and there would be only one winner, i.e India. But tomorrow's winner will be that team which plays positively and is ready with a plan B if things go wrong.

Its a matter of choice, who are the supporters of Srilanka saying that they have played well throughout in this tournament and side by side who are the supporters of India saying that they have strong batting line up.. So lets see who is going to take this "WORLD CUP 2011"
