Three Ofws Hanged in China

Just the other day, three (3) Fil. overseas contract workers were hanged in China. Their case allegedly was drug trafficking though the Filipinos were all denying the accusations. They said they were just victims of an illegal recruiter. The hanging was posponed for quite a while 'coz of an appeal by our gov't to the Gov't of China. However, after a few days the death penalty was still enforced. The three all died of lethal injection. We, as Filipinos too were all saddened by the news. We deeply sympathize with the bereaved family of the three. We felt for their grief. Do you think the death penalty might had been lowered to life imprisonment if not for the hostage taking incident that happened here in Metro Manila last year? In that hostage taking, a lot of Chinese Nationals were killed and injured. Is this a way of retaliation from the Chinese Gov't? Was the decision on the case greatly affected by that incident? What do you think?
