Winning Team Has To Be Contended With "Replica" Of World Cup 2011 ??

It is a surprising thing that today the winning team of the World Cup 2011 tournament has to be contended with Replica of he World Cup in today's Prize Distribution Ceremony! Reason, the custom duties of Rs.20 Lakhs were not paidby the BCCI and so the original Cup has been sent back to the head quarters.
Further details are not given by any of the news channels as yet, but one thing is certain that once again BCCI has shown its inefficiency .Though the sources say that BCCI people were under the impression that customs would be waived for the things imported by them which includes the World Cup 2011 and now government has taken out the waiver and imposing the tax on them and that is why they couldn't pay the amount!
What so ever may be the case at least the customs should have been paid immidiately and the original Cup could have been brought to the Presentation Ceremony and the return claim of the Customs could have been settled later on with the Government at least to save themselves from the embarassment!
This will be a poor show on the part of BCCI which will be witnessed by the whole World today on more than 10 TV channels! It is really very unfortunate that BCCI is putting up such a poor show by presenting a Replica during the presentation Ceremony, that it would be discussed in every where in the world! It is high time that BCCI people should wake up and come out of the trans of accumulating money...they should realise that there are some basic duties to be performed by them in the interest of the Sport 'Cricket' apart from just making money in the name ofthe sport!

Hello AKRao,
BCCI has created very embarrassing situation for the whole country in this way. Every now and then they have some troubles. This is the most prestigious award in the world of cricket and they are not serious about it. I do not know what is going to happen but they have once again shown their lack of seriousness. This is very shameful.

Hi Dear Nishant! These people are just interested in making money and they are forgetting that they need to perform some basic and minimum duties to make this event a successful one! They won't feel anything bad about it! It was just a question of 20 Lakhs! The BCCI which is having several crores in surplus can't settle this with immediate effect and later on the matter could have been settled with the Government! Absolutely a poor show...leaving one in bad taste!

very true, they have enormous money in their hand, especially at this point after almost completion of world cup. What to say, people like Lalit Modi knows only about themselves. They have no sense of nation's pride. So, today winning team will not get the real trophy? How amazing, shocking, irritating, and sad!

Imagine no cup for World CUP??? It is unthinkable. They are making a huge mistake. Things like this are the one that embarrassed the Nation as a whole. Looking at it from outside perspective, it's 'Those Indians'.
