Cricket World Cup - Extra money for the players

Winning the world cup means crores of money for the Indian team members. The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) announced a Rs. 1Crore (Almost 220000$) award for each player. Other awards make it an extra 3Crore to each player. Is it really necessary for the government to spend so much money when 27% of the Indian population are still living below the poverty line?

Exactly. Besides the players of the India team get annual salary too. the lowest is Rs.25 lacks. Money playing in each match, ODIs, Tests, T20, money is everywhere.
Accepted that BCCI is the richest sports organization in the world, but should that mean that these players are showered with money? Forget about one crore, with just 25 lacks we have almost 10 km metal roads.

Is this never really going to stop, Rajiv!!! I mean in today’s times, no govt can afford to waste so much money on individuals and here our Govt, on top of all that money, if giving land and free AC train passes (as if the players will ever use trains) and so much more! The cricketers are professionals, as it is they get paid alongwith everything else as free, there seven generations are taken care of… do we really need to give them so much more money??? The Govt has so shame in its vulgar display of wealth and pampering the already over-pampered!!!
And with all respect to them, none of them or the BCCI ever comes up with any charity or something similar with all that money! There are so many cricketers (esp. of yesteryears) who are now old and have very little money…cant anything be done to support them till the live? Cant the BCCI persuade the players to donate a part of their money to develop stadia and other infrastructure in lesser known places in India… to promote the local players? Its only select cities and select zones that have all the facilities and only players that make the national team that get so much money! What about the others who chase the dream but end up at the Ranji levels? At least the IPL gives them some chance to make money!!!

I have no objection in this. The cricketer hard toiled to win this cup. The training and so on is really tough. What happened when they failed last year and when they were beaten in the group league match against Australia ? Didn't people throw stones at their homes ? Didn't people attack their properties ? By the way I would like to say there is no problem that Govt. want to give them money and so on, but why the Govt. don't give much to the other sportsperson when they get medals from different meets other than Olympics ? Is Olympic only has the priority ? I have problem here only. Govt can inspire them to perform better by giving prizes and money and so on. There shouldn't be so much differences like this. Yuvraj got AUDI car, other players already got plots, 1 crore from their state Govt excluding 1 crore from BCCI. People are jealous or something else but I would like to say in India CRICKET is the biggest religion and it brings cheers and happiness in so many people which no other sports can. So to perform better these prizes are there.

According to me each Indian player deserve for that which has been announced by the BCCI. Nothing is going to happend with the poverty because if you didn't give that to players it will be used for the some other Cricket or sports purposes but it won't reach to the poor and misery people. Especially in India don't expect anything, just lead the life according to the situation. I condemn this system of indian government but its of no use. One man can't get victory over the corruption people. It should be a unity of people then only it can effect to them as well as for the whole society.
Team India has been crowned World Cup, so better let them enjoy and have bright future in their life. Every one in India should reach their goal and they should get success in each and every aspect of life then only poverty can be washed out from this beautiful country, untill situation will be remains same.
