Chemistry Question for any science fanatics!!

Why is it that in a titration of a weak base with a string acid the equivalence point pH is below 7. AN example i was looking at was HCl with TRIS. THe equivalence point pH was 4.6 Why is this? =D

In the titration of a strong acid and weak base, the product so obtained is acidic in nature so its pH is below 7. For example in the titration of HCl and NH4OH, the compound obtained is NH4Cl which is acidic.
