Why cricketers are blessed with so much rewards and soldiers are not?

Congratulation for world cup victory. I think every honest employee deserve compensation and honour for their dedication toward the service to nation. Remember one thing that cricket won world cup after 28 years and cricket are few. It is not true that only 1 lacs are provided for their famlilies. I don't know about other state but in rajasthan for soliders who lost their life the govt. awaed them 25 bigha land also some cash, education for their children. But system of our country are not good due to solidres will not benefited in time. You are much crazy for mylot. Carry on . Good luck

Very Good Post! Cricket is like a religion in India and Cricketers are seen as role models. Moreover Media talks so much about Cricket that everybody gets influenced and you would have seen even senior politicians making their presence felt in the recently concluded World Cup. Government per does not dole out money per se. Actually, it is the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) and International Cricket Council which give so much amount of money to the Cricketers because theses Bodies earn lots of money through organizing various Cricket matches. Both Bodies are not under any Government. They are autonomous Bodies. On the other hand those who are in Services are part of the Government, they are Government servant. Government pays them. Now a days those who are in Armed Force Services get handsome salary, besides various infringe benefits. Also, a cricketer’s life is short lived. If he does not perform he is thrown out of the team and is sometimes discarded forever. Those who play Test matches and One day Internationals or T-20 are paid handsomely and there number is very less. While Soldiers or Armed Forces personnel are large in number and their job is permanent and even Ex-servicemen are re-employed in various jobs. Therefore, I feel that comparison should not be drawn between a Cricketer and a soldier.

I think its mainly because of the entertainment they create and the number of fans that follow. Indian armies, although doing a wonderful job for the country doesn't generate huge revenues as cricketers do. People don't get to see the soldiers fighting for the country nor are they shown in the TV more often, but cricket is. I think its mainly because of the revenue that get generated due to the huge fan base and the contracts crickets get from the sponsors.

It is truly thought provoking question and it has been debated at times. But there seems to be no direct answer. May be commercialism of cricket gives back in tax form or may be number of cricketers is negligible compared to the number of soldiers. Whatever it is at least one should not forget soldiers who dedicate their lives for country. I just want to mention a fantastic song sung by Lata mangeshkar which brought tears in every one's eyes. Although I am in the US I certainly see you point of view. I don't know that it is a matter for not giving much importance but much more an easier way to handle. It does appear that in any country priorities are not balanced. In order for wars to end we must have tow minds meet and agree when they do not the wars are continual. Not sure if it is enforced but it appears that once pride kicks in there is no stepping back for them. It is quite difficult to answer in an simple form, indeed. I suppose primarily because most humans in the world would war to come to an end and not further continue but unfortunately the structures and how they begin our far from my own frame of thinking. A very Good questions Indeed :). I hate this when the cricketers are paid so much. Please don't be happy as the money is not government's property but it is the money generated from "Public". Cricketers are paid so much because the corrupt government officials get chance to loooooooooooooooooot a lot of money in the name of cricket, a portion of which they offer to the players in the name of prizes. The BCCI is the richest body in the world and you can imagine how much money they steal in the name of cricket, Now that politics, cricket and corporates have joined hands, it is just another way to steal money. It is high time that we should bann cricket if we want to save our money, These monsters loot us in the name of entertainment, While nobody cares for the soldiers even if they live die or loose any of their body parts or limbs. What they get is just a salami of 11 shots in the sky the push their soul high up with the bullets :X. While cricketers get all kinds of puraskars and accolades for doing nothing great than just participating in the competition and winning. Its a shame on we people the citizens of india for regarding cricket in such high spirits. Its high time that we stop going to matches, stop watching them so the trp's and the money generated comes down and in turn the corruption. Its high that that this issue must be raised in front of the government through public media. Its high time that the military and the police get due rewards for what they do and offer to the country. The government should be forced to take these measures now or else cricket will bring a doom upon our country as it is no longer a game which used to be played for the sake of playing and winning.

hi, your travelling and also mylotting that s good., your right our soldiers ,whoever might be of our country they are least bothered by the government.Dont knw what might be the reason what craze is for the crickets what great they are doing for the country.They are just giving enjoyment to some percentage of people of the country. I recently saw President Pratibha Patil giving away bravery awards to those who fought for the country and lost their lives ., Their wifes came to receive , their mothers came for receiving the awards ., whose situation no one can understand or no one can get them out of their problems , it s a loss of a person in the family, soldiers who die are great, people who are dependant s on them are the losers., Country feels great of having such soldiers however the country can not do anything for the dependants.To tell u frankly a person i n such a situation will never let any of its family again to fight for the country. When there is no value for a soldiers life and the descendants why is it doing lot for the criketers families.Its just becox the people areleast bothered ., and government is least concerned.Anyways as now we are globalised and are of no wars may be governemnt is doing good only to control the upcoming wars., its better not to make lots of soldiers we are not in the view to hav wars.
