Do you ever have experienced eating your food but you don't noticed that there's a lot of worm inside? Well to me, I experienced it this day, April 10, 2011... It's my first time ever in my life that I eat a fish with lot of worms inside it's stomach. I didn't know that there's worm inside, I only just noticed it when I see some movements of worms inside the fish stomach. The worst of all, there are lots of it crawling in my plate... Ahhh... I don't know if I ate some of it!!! I'm shock...!!! The dish was a fried fish and it is called "didilat" here in the Philippines. I will not forget this in my entire life... :(

Your 'Adventure' bring back memory of when I ate a worm. It happened when I was a kid and I was very fond of apples and always take big bites. One day, as usual, I washed a beautiful red delicious apple and sank my teeth into the mid-section and took a big bite. As I was chewing the apple, I saw some white stuff on the apple where I have taken the bite. I took a closer look and to my horror, I found a wiggling worm moving desperately towards the centre of the apple. Even worse was the tail part of the worm seemed to have been bitten off by me. Arhhhhh! I immediately split what is in my mouth out but a lot have already went down. I do not take big bites off fruits anymore ever since.

chinchoy, actually, if you see fruit worms or veggie worms, the more you should be thankful, because that means the food is not saturated with pesticides.

Oh, i had the same experience with "tinapa" a smoked fish selling in the market. It was fried first before I got to see the crawling worms there, thin worms that really alive and going out from the stomach of that fish. I never eaten that kind of fish ever, since that time, even if my father already proved there is none whatever he cooks or buy one from the market. I think worm are edible so do not worry about eating one, but if you did, charge it to experience . That unforgettable.

Then after maybe a month I noticed that lunch box and decided to wash it. But the moment I opened it, there were freakin worms all over. Maggots more like. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww i threw the lunch box away. It still gives me shivers when i think of it

thank you for sharing the story axl! I laughed and pitied you for having experienced that. I can only imagine the horror and shock you have gone through while seeing those worms on your plate. What was your father's impression when there were worms on your food? I have never heard of didilat as a specialty. Maybe because we are here in visayas and we dont cook that. Or maybe we have a different term for that of which I do not know. take care next time :)

Well my father said to me that he also experienced such things back then when his young. He ate the ampalaya that is full of worm, like me he didn't notice it. Didilat fish is expensive here, it is color orange with big eyes, really big eyes. But now, I really don't want to eat didilat again. Thanks for your response. :)

That's correct, one of my unforgettable experience in life. I didn't notice earlier because all the worms are inside the stomach of "siga". Huhuhu.

I know Sariaya. I had been to one flores de mayo and one pahiyas fiesta. They didn't offer siga. Love your hometown!

Actually, I have no idea how did this worms survive on heat, or how they get inside the fish. About the fish, we called it "didilat" in Baliuag, Bulacan but here in Sariaya, Quezon they call it "siga". It's a orange color fish with a big eyes.
