final grade for my last class

Hi everyone!!! I just checked the grade on my final paper for the class I just finished and I was surprised to see that I got 100% on it. Not only was it a lot shorter than the 10-12 pages that was expected, but I thought it was poorly organized. I guess it just goes to show you that sometimes teachers have lower expectations that I have of myself. I can now put all my attention on getting caught up with responding to discussions in here. I am already working on the digest from April 6 right now (I started on April 2). That is how long I have been working to get finished with all the papers for that class. Now I am free from school for two weeks before my next class starts. Have a great week!!!

What kind of classes are you taking, Debbie? Does it have to do with English? I´m glad you did well but then I know you would. Tell us all about your classes, please.

That is short for kindergarten through high school. That is what prepares one to be a teacher. My goal is only to teach ESL though as I have no interest in teaching kids. It was just easier to get into this program than to get into a TESOL degree at the local university because they want the GRE and the program I'm in didn't. I must say that online is the way to go, especially if you like to travel because you can do classes from anywhere as long as you have internet access.

I am working on a Master of Education with emphasis on English Language Learners. The class I just finished was "Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Students". Although it was aimed at k-12 education, it is just as applicable to college and even to the business world and the world in general.

It sounds awesome! Maybe I should get a postgrade online. I was talking about that with my eldest daughter. About studying something to polish my lonely gray cell. I have never studied Education, but I have studied Literature and Linguistics. What is k-12 education?

I had a feeling that you had done well. Adult students often under rate themself, but they overachieve. I bet that will make your two weeks fly by. I often wonder about going back to school.

I agree with your comment about underrating and overachieving. I'm sure the two weeks will go too fast. I should probably order the book soon so that if I get a hard copy I can get it before the class starts. If I get the ebook I can wait until it starts. Since it is one of the ESL classes, I think I would rather have the hard copy. The general education classes it doesn't matter because I don't think I would use them after the class is over. Going back to school is a good thing to do if you want to gain new skills. It is never too late to learn. I know that some students have been older than I am and I'm no spring chicken. Thanks for the comment!

I haven't had a fever since I started on the antibiotics last week. I still check it a couple of times a day, especially when I start to have a headache, but so far it hasn't been a problem. Thanks for the prayers and for the comment!

Wow, well done, that's a fantastic grade. I often find that I've done a lot better in assignments than I thought I had, so that's wonderful. I've only ever gained a mark of 100% once in my life, and that was a wonderful feeling. Well done, and don't forget to keep up the good work!

I tend to do very well when I work steadily throughout the course. But during this course, I was in chemo so there were weeks that I just wasn't up to doing anything so I was behind about three papers and I had about two weeks to get those and the final paper finished. Normally late papers would receive lower marks, but the only mark I lost was because I forgot to put a conclusion on one of the makeup papers. I was surprised that he settled for a paper that was 3-5 pages shorter than required, but I guess I had all the other elements needed so he overlooked that detail. Thanks for the comment!

Hi there Daeckardt! Congratulations! It's always nice when you get something good out of something that you worked really hard for, especially when you're a student. A good and well-deserved grade is a huge reward for sleepless nights, for the stress and for the time and effort that you spend working on a certain project. I hope you'll get more good grades in the future.

I think it is a lot easier to get a good grade when you are working online than if you sit in a regular classroom. I was mainly surprised because the paper wasn't as long as it was supposed to be, but I guess other than that, it had all the elements needed. I was very happy about that. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the comment! I think after a two week break, I will be ready to get started on my next class. I hope that I can do as well in that one. Hopefully, I will be able to use this material in the future. I am learning how to do the job I had been doing for two years in China without any training. I don't know if I will be able to get an English teaching job in the future, but I will try. Have a great day!!!

Great news!! I am happy to hear this my friend. Shows that nothing will hold you back no matter what. Having been a bit under the weather with your treatments you still manage to do well. Hooray and good for you my dear. Shows that nothing will be stopping you, no matter what. Make sure though that during the two weeks you do manage to get some rest, you do not want to over do it. However, it seems that you are doing great at taking care of you.

I am good at taking it easy. I might spend a lot of time in here, but that isn't work. This is play for me. I guess I should buy the book for my next class pretty soon. I'm debating if I should save money and get the ebook or if I should get the hard copy because it is another ESL class and having the hard copy would be a good reference. I don't know if the ebook would be available after a certain number of days. Oh well...

I have five classes down and seven to go. Then I will have a Master of Education with emphasis on English Language Learners. I hope this will allow me to get a job teaching English a little easier. Thanks for the comment!
