How do you measure your fitness level?

It's sometimes interesting to know how healthy our body is in terms of strength and endurance. I'm usually at home and doing nothing except study all day for a licensure exam I've been preparing for so I sometimes want to know if my body is getting weaker or if I get to do physical activities, did my body improve in any way? What I do is when our family goes to the mall, my brother and I play the basketball hoops arcade machine. It's the one where you just stand on the end of the machine and shoot basketballs as much as you can. I find it a good measuring device for my fitness level. It has 5 levels and the player gets to the next level if s/he gets the required amount of points for each round (60, 200, 300, 400, 500). I usually get to the fourth round with 400+ points. When my body is stronger, I get to the fifth round and get 500+ points, 600 even. My arm can endure the shooting longer, I perspire less, and my breathing is still okay. When I've been so inactive during the week and my body is weaker, the worst is I only get to the 2nd or 3rd round with 200-300+ points only. I'm dripping with sweat and I'm catching my breath, panting like a dog. I wish I had my own basketball hoops machine at home because it's actually good exercise! How about you, how do you measure your fitness level without use of professional equipment/consult? Have a nice and energetic day!

There are several fitness tests you can do at home to measure strength and endurance, cardiovascular level, and flexibility. One that has been around for years is the President's Challenge Adult Fitness Test. See www.adultfitnesstest.org/adultFitnessTestLanding.aspx Do you have a nearby outdoor basketball court (park or school) where you can shoot hoops? Just running and dribbling the ball outside your home can be a good workout. No need to wait to exercise when your family goes to the mall.
