Office gossip.....How hard can it hit you?

April 16, 2011 2:59am CST
A senior co-worker had spread around a gossip in the office with malicious intent to malign the integrity of a fellow coworker. Immediately the gossip had spread like a wild fire in every department. The gossip which is libelous in nature had the coworker mad and seething with rage. The senior co-worker held a high position in the company and is respected for the huge contributions she made to the company and everyone believed her. Later, it had been found out that the allegations are fabricated to advance her own career. But the trauma had already been done emotionally and psychologicallly. Is there a fool-proof strategy to avoid rumors from getting into your nerves? How can we avoid being the prey of office gossip?

It would be appropriate to not be the topic of office gossip by being friendly and working hard. Do mingle with other office workers and make friends with them but do not engage in gossips yourself.

Absolutely right! The best thing to do is to mind your own business and not engage in rumors. Focusing on work-related activities take away your attention to inappropriate talks that generate gossip and besides you increase productivity by working on your tasks.
