Why do you feel insecure? Is he your only son/kid? If he is your only son and as a young adult,he sees his friends more as a company, now i can see why you feel insecure. My sister in law has only one kid and now that her daughter is working and is busy with her own life as a young adult, she don't have much with her mother. Unlike before when she's just a small kid,my sister in law can tag her along where she goes. But now,the little girl has turned into a woman/young lady..and has a life of her own,she don't have much time with her mom even with weekends. So my sister in law really feels so insecure with her daughter's friends and office mates. You have to accept the fact that, our kids will have their own life once they grow up.

My two sons are only 6 and 4 and already I feel like they need less and less of me... Especially with technology and media, my sons seem to be growing up so fast. Sometimes I wish they were babies again. What more when they are 14?

Why do you fee insecure? Does he have a girlfriend now? Your is son is a teenager now as what you've said nothing can stop it. This is the stage where kids becomes vulnerable to social influences, this teenage stuff will pass soon and I know you know this one too cause you've experienced it already. Maybe just a little guidance, not too much cause this might put him in an uncomfortable situation. Soon before you know it he's already a man and you'll have to accept that he won't be around often.

Its inevitable, especially now with the time passes really fast. But don't feel insecure, just be proud and be with him along the way. Teenage life is the very challenging stage of life as they say. We parents play a big role in molding our kids into a better person someday so, goodluck!
