Have you ever had to make the kind of choice that hurts either way?

I had to do that today. I would rather not go into detail about why I had to make the choice, but it was the kind of choice where either way, it was gonna hurt. Has anyone else here ever been forced to make the kind of choice that would hurt you no matter what you chose?

The choice I made affected my entire life. I had to chose between killing a man to stop him from hurting someone else, or to make something out of my life. The way my life turned out, I should have killed him. Part of my self-destructive impulse may result from guilt that I allowed someone else to continue suffering and only thought of myself. Either way--I lose. But, what can anyone expect from a 17 year old child?

Wow, your story is heartbreaking. I don't have any words that can make this any easier for you, so I'll just send you warm hugs.

The choicesthat we make are not always easy ones. sometimes it doesn't matter what the choice will be. Somebody or something will end up getting hurt. Those are always the toughest kinds of choices i have had to make. Knowing that someone is going to be hurt by my choice doesn't make it any easier. It often makes it more difficult.

Actually ,whenever we make a decision ,we will lose something at the same time.Choice always costs us losing something else.To some extent ,it will hurt us or some of our relatives or friends to lose something.

I think when my mom was in the hospital it was that kind of choice. I hate it when you have to choose things that will hurt no matter which way you go! I hope that whatever happened that you are ok now. Have a great week!!!

Hi Millie I have had to make choices in life that were so difficult I had a hard time going either way with. I have learned in life to make mental notes as to why it is advantageous or at a disadvantage and go with my gut. This way regardless of the outcome I do understand and accept fully that I had to make the decision and hence do not have regrets later. I try to only really on my decisions as to why I went either way because this way no one but me is to blame and then later I learn if it were the wrong choice. Hope you are okay after your choice was made.

Yes, i have done that decision in my life. Usually it i have to choose whether to do the right or to just forget about other people and follow what i really like. The problem in my side is that the right thing to do is not what i want. I'm usually caught in a situation where i have to choose in right but sad or wrong but happy. And whatever i choose its still a loosing battle because i hurt myself and the people that are involved. And to spare myself from the long days of sadness i usually choose right but sad because i get a comfort in thinking that at least i have done the right thing and spare my self from a lifetime of guilt.
