College and High School Woes

These two really differ a lot! During High school, most if the times we are being scolded by the teacher, going to the assistant principal or to the guidance to undergo punishment (especially the desired haircut for boys!), cheating was common, being able to join in the varsity and much more! During college or university, most of the times you can go out of the lecture room, will get scolded less, any desired haircut(except for some schools), less school activities and other. It's different. In college though, we are solely responsible for our research and other studies while at high school, you get spoon-feeded most of the times. I prefer college because I love the fact of being independent. Even though high school is really fun! Do you think High school is any better than college? Share!

You are so right. I did not like high school as much as my college courses and differnet schools I went to after high school. being in the Military and certification classes such as EMT. In high school we had a required structure to learn. But with college, we can choose what we want to study in most part. Our course structure will wrap around our career choice. It is up to us if we go or not. After all the college got the money you will pay your student loans, and that in itself should encourage you to work harder in college than high school. BUT to get to the collage and major you want, you want to work hard in high school too. Everything counts towards the career if you want the right job in the future after school.

I really had hard time in high school. Sometimes, I would fail my subjects . But I'm quite surprised at myself though why I am having fun in college. I rarely fail my subjects already. Working hard in high school is really important. It is because it could depend on which course you would go after. Thank you!

First of all I am not in a college as yet and I am still in high school. All I have to say though is that I feel that I would enjoy college more than high school even though I am having alot of fun in this high school that I am in presently. What I am afraid of though is that everybody is saying the same thing that you have to do your studies on your own. But then again I am planning to go in the medical field so I guess that will be much more work on my hand. So if I am just looking on the fun part and not the school part I would say that I would have more fun at college. If I am looking only on the work part, I believe I would prefer my high school in that case.

I see . Well then, I just have to say that you must enjoy your high school as much as possible! When you get to college, you would be able to determine which you would prefer to be in! Thank you

But by then wont I not be able to go back to high school if I prefer High School. By the way, what course did you take in college? Was it a time consuming course that allowed little to no time for leisure activities or was it some course where you didnt really feel that much pressured and as a result you could go out every now and then? I really wonder.

I am taking up Computer science. It's not really a time consuming course but there are times when we really have to focus on the major project rather than the discussion. There times too we are so free that we can go anywhere we like and have fun! Pressure is always there anyway. It's just that some of our teachers are really strict then the others no.

Hi there misterMR!!! I think we all have different stories and views when it comes to our high school and college experience.Well to be honest now that I already finish studying in college,I can say that college experience or life more challenging and more interesting than my high school life. I don't know if this is becoz in high school I experience being bullied or becoz I neglected my studies, but my life is better when I entered college.People are more matured and they have reasons for their actions. You need to compete everyday to be recognized but thats okay becoz it teaches you how to be stronger and smarter.

I am experiencing the same way as you did! I did not really enjoy my high school! I just finished my first year in college last month and I have to say that in that year alone, I was able to have more and better friends than in high school. In that year alone again, it was like all my good experiences in high school, 1st to 4th year, all gathered in my first year in college alone! After the school year ended, I just felt extremely sad. Some of them were going to shift to another course or transfer to another school which really made us sad. But the most memorable day we had with my classmates was during the farewell party! We had a blast!

Hello jeanneyvonne! Glad to here that you are also experiencing this. I also had bullies when I was in grade school. And to tell you the truth, I did not really cared about my grade school years. High school was really horrifying for me but it is the stage of learning moral values, that's why we get matured once we enter college.

I am one of the many students who were scarred by bullying in their elementary years. I overcame it (not sure how but I did) and stepped on the next level, known to us all as high school. High school is a a bit complicated situation for me. Sure, there was still some bullying because it was high school and it was cool to do so. As a reaction, I tried to be the wallflower and the nerd or geek. College came and it was different from what I experienced in high school or elementary. I am more independent and people don't care if I fit in or what I'm wearing. The only thing that mattered is is you can juggle studies and social life in the last years before getting a job and turn into an fully independent person. There is a sense of maturity in people in college that I liked and haven't found in high school. But I will have to admit that I did miss my classmates from high school, even though they weren't nice at all.

to some extent, this applies to me too. however, our school did not really spoonfeed us. i dont know wich i liked better because in high school, almost all the students lived in the school dormitory. of course you can imagine the fun that we had after classes. we got to play on the grounds and do all sorts of other things. in college, its also similar. although i studied more and had less time to go out, it was still really fun. slumber parties, birthday parties, stuff like that.

Wow, all students live in the dormitory? Cool ! I am wondering why my country does not have that, except for the military schools. I guess you are used to living independently with your friends. That's nice to hear.
