The point where school really clicked.

I think I always did fairly decent in school. However, there was a difference between doing fairly well and excelling in my studies. There was a class here and a class there that I did really good in. However, it was not until a year and a semester into my Sophomore year where I really began doing really well. Its just something magically slid into place. With some people it clicks, with others school never really clicks. What group did you fall into?

I was average but that didn't matter. In those days, if the head master didn't like you, you had a nasty letter sent to each employer whenever you applied for a job after leaving school. I expect the same happens today. And the head master definitely hated me! Then, if you weren't the sports type - that was another downfall. You have to go mountain climbing, play rugby or practice falconry to impress them - and that's just for the girls!

It is not what you know a lot of the time, its who you know. If you really just agitate the wrong people, your life is not going to really be a very comfortable one. Therefore, there are people who you might not want to get a favorable reference from. I think that I didn't butt heads with too many important people in my day, but I knew some who did. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.
