Would you breastfeed and for how long?

How long do you think a mother should breastfeed? I breastfed my daughter for 2 1/2 yrs. And it was one of the best things I could have done for her. She and I are extremely close and she rarely got Ill. The only con was the affect it took on my breast...after the milk finally dried up it seems as though they deflated.
