Nearly all back pain goes away on its own, though it may take a short time. Taking over the counter pain relievers and resting can help. Though, staying in bed for more than 1 or 2 days can make it worse. If your back pain is severe or doesn't get better after three days, you should call your health care provider. You should also get therapeutic attention if you have back pain following an injury.

Sleeping for long hours only aggravates the pain. Sometimes when the bed is not too comfortable or the chair that you sit on is not proper then you get severe back pain. A little bit of rest but not sleeping is needed for back pain. If it is too bad then a visit to the doctor but I would not recommend Over the Counter medicines.
