I saw it and I was surprised that I liked it. The story was interesting and had the elements of a real script, unlike other boxing movies that attempt to be more biographical and close to the truth. I really liked Christian Bale's performance and the role of the fighter's girlfriend. She won an oscar didn't she? or at least she had a nomination. I never heard a sports story where the girl friend has a major role in helping the athlete achieve his goals. It was really inspiring that she was so emotionally invested in the man's career as a boxer, when no one else really cared about him. I didn't know anything about the real people, so I can't judge the realness of the movie. Everyone I saw at the theatre seemed to be a boxing fan.
