India is a very ancient country but, like China, also on the cutting edge. Its sad that some places in India don't get the benefits that other parts do. I love the India sacred art, but the Hindi and the Muslim remains. I think the Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful buildings ever made. All things considered it isn't very old, but speaks to a time when that part of India was under that rule. I can't say I agree with either the Hindi or Buddhist religions, but that doesn't leave the fact that the art made for their worships isn't wonderful. I will say, however, because of my health problems, I will probably never get to visit there. My mother went to Africa (Kenya) and all the medicines she had to take before hand pretty much made me understand that I probably won't be visiting too many countries. Not that they don't have any health care, but my own health problems are such that the preventative medications would probably be impossible for me to take. So, I guess I'll just have to look at pictures, and wish I could visit.

Sorry to hear about your health problems but do you know Kerala has ancient art of Ayurveda still alive and it cures many ailments which modern day medicines fail to cure. May be its not for you but I wish you could see the vibrant colors of India and best unity in diversity ...temple and mosque all at one street so is church...

Its more the stuff in the meds that I worry about. And I sure don't want to catch anything because of the many allergies I have. As it is, even now I have to take the liquid forms of any antibiotics because of the corn starch in the pills

I haven't yet visited India yet but I do want to go there in the future. I would like to see the Taj Mahal in Agra and the beaches to the south of Goa. Kerala sounds like my sort of place. I know that India has an excellent train system and it is possible to get a train pass. I imagine there is much povery in India but it is becoming a powerhouse of industry which will one day make it a much more wealthy country. I think of India as being religious country with a few different religions. When I go there I think that I will fly into Delhi. I have seen some documentaries about India and it looks like I would love it there.

Along with Egypt & Mesopotamia (now Iraq), China, Greece, & perhaps a couple of others I may have forgotten, India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. However, with the spread of Islam, & after the British granted that area their independence, it's now India, Pakistan, & Bangladesh. I don't know if Afghanistan was ever a part of it though. Because of career obligations, & the lack of money, I doubt that I can visit any time soon, if at all. So for me, it's only see pictures & read the news.

India is mesmerizing that way if you adore colors do visit rajasthan and see the vibrant dresses people wear and the capital city Jaipur is called the pink city and it has mainly hindu kings and their palaces, some of them have been converted in to hotels too. ANd best flora and fauna I have experienced is in Kerala or Sikkim they both are safe and beautiful places.
