Does the spot of the picture in the article matter?

I love putting pictures in my articles. But I noticed that in Bukisa, some of their spots look a bit odd. I mean the google ads end up and my paragraphs underneath the pictures create a blank space. I am wondering if it affects the performance of those articles? Can anyone explain?
