I have given up watching tv serials and what a relief it is. They always demanded time slots from me which did mess up my schedules. Now with this decision not to watch serials I feel liberated. I am a free bird now to play with my time the way I want.Have you also felt liberated when you gave up on fixed time activities?

I have not watched TV serials or for many decades because I was addicted to Dallas all those years ago. It was shown on Tuesday evenings inItaly and nothing, absolutely nothing would make me miss it. Then suddenly after many months I realised that Tuesdays had almost become 'ruled' by that ridiculous saga and that I was a slave to it From them on I purposely arranged to meet friends on Tuesdays and eventually gave it up completely when I decided to take up an evening class course which was held every Tuesday evenibg. Hooray I wasno longer tied to a serial! From then on never again have I got myself addicted to anything on the box!

Indeed I do know exactly what you mean I have no problem being without television completely. Een the news programs are filled with opinions rather than facts these days

Looking back at my life Diana I now realise the number of hours I wasted in front of the idiot box watching what I now feel was hogwash!

I don't know what came over me to take this hard decision as I was quite addicted to these serials but then I realised that I would give up doing certain chores just to be on time to be in front of the idiot box. I said enough is enough and when I finally took that decision I truly felt so liberated. Having experienced it yourself you know what I mean.

Yes, I have. I do not watch very much television, so that does not confine me. I happen to be out of work so I am pretty free all day, except for the times I have to make meals.

I have real issues if I try to wait for my husband to work out with me, or even get up with me. I need to go with my personal body clock. I am an early riser. Meals are the same. I can make a fast and simple meal, but feel held captive by needing to cook a bit fancier.

The timings of these serials could be quite odd at times even if we are not tied down. I for one never watched serials if they were shown rather late in the night. Anyway now with my decision not to watch them any more no matter when they show them, I feel I am free.

Besides tv serials there are other activites that bind us. I remember my friend and I had a fixed time to go for our walks and this became n issue with us as it was not possible to adhere to timings. There are so many such situations that bind us. Have you had any such situations too?

I love watching TV serials and I tend to go berserk when I miss just even one episode, lol Anyway, there was one time when I was watching several series and they were demanding too much of my schedule. One of my busiest was a Tuesday when I had to watch four 1-hour serials: Monk, House, Fringe, and Criminal Minds. On Wednesdays, I had to watch 3 shows including The Event. I stopped watching The Event and it just feels good to drop one of the shows because it was hard to cope up Months after that, the TV schedules shuffled and I felt more freedom because my favorite shows were no longer clustered.

You have understood me perfectly!. Even hoping my guests would leave so that I could sit with my serials is not the best choice you see! I now know the difference. I am no longer tied down.

How many serials do you watch and how do you manage your time even though you may have decided not to obey the serial timings!

I don't usually watch Tv serials on cables anymore coz I can't manage the times they give the shows. I now watch them on internet because I can watch them whenever I have free time :)

That is a good point. There I suppose you could watch more serials at one go? Is there such an arrangement?

That would mean sitting for long hours at a stretch. May be that way you feel more organised.

Yep you can and that is the best part coz I don't want to wait a week for new episodes lol. I usually watch shows after all the episodes are completed.

Serials are some kind of addiction and to be liberated from this addiction calls for celebration. Here's to those who are liberated!
