who is the best opening pair of India in Indian Cricket History?

For its Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly. they were the perfect opening pair not only for india for the world itself.In ODI the number of runs they scored as openers is still a record, and the 100 run partnership were also very good. now the cricket has become more batsman favour game, but these two scored runs when it was not a big batsman favour game. After sachin and ganguly, I would rate sachin and viru, they are also very good.

India has never had a great opening pair in test cricket.But I think you are talking of ODIs here. We thought saurav and sachin were the best but when sehwag came along it was even better. You are right in these two we have the best opening pair in the last few years. They dominated the world cups in 03 and 11.And it looks as if there are few more match winning knocks from these openers.

To me it is Shewag-Tendulkar pair. Although, Sourav-Sachin pair was also good, especially when its Left hand-Right hand combination, I'd rate sehwag tendulkar a bit higher. These two were the opening pair of India in 2003 world cup and India ended up in world cup final. And again, in 2011, these two paired up at the top and India were again in the final and won the world cup. So to me, it got to be Sehwag-Tendular pair.

I would say Sachin Saurav is the best openning pair, not only in India but in World also. Their performances and record also state that. I still can remember some breath taking innings from them in ODI. Their pair were a terror to other teams. Australia were World Chamions then but they too were concerned about this pair. I had a regret that I could not able to see Saurav back to Indian team anymore, neither MI took him in the auction. Whatever they will remain in the heart and memories of the cricket fans who loved them and enjoyed their partnerships.
