Is there a such thing too old for school? Is there a course that after finishing it you could find a job without age limit? A friend of mine who hasn't reach a college degree, he wanted to take up a vocational course his turning 30 yrs old this year.

Learning doesn't stop even when we age. I see old people finishing high school or earning a degree. I think your friends choice of a vocational course is great. Vocational courses aims to develop a specific skill that is quite in demand for work overseas or encourage entrepreneurship. Given some training and work experience, I think you would have a larger chance of succeeding with a vocational course rather than earning a college degree. I really am wondering why schools in our country don't push for vocational courses which has more chances of getting employment.

to think of it mostly of vocational graduate gets all the jobs abroad. Sometimes when my "topak" hits me, i started wishing that instead of taking a 5 year course i should have taken a vocational one. Now i'm also thinking of taking a vocational course just to pursue my dream to work and travel abroad. I'm just worry about my age i'm not getting younger any more. hope it will come true =(

It is never too late to learn. Once you got additional experience, I'm sure it can be possible. I am currently in the BTO/BPO industry, and in my line of work multi-lingual employees have a salary way above what managers have. Had I known earlier, I would have taken linguistics in College. I am just too lazy to study right now, but I'm contented with what I have and I am happy with what I am doing.

People have given you examples, but I'll give you a personal experience. I am over 30, (somewhat a lot older..lol) and I started taking classes last fall..It is never too late, though it feels like I'll be in college forever due to my poor math skills...:(

"Live as if you were to die today, learn as if you were to live forever." - Gandhi No. There is no such thing as too old for school. There is no such thing as too old for learning or improving oneself either. I think your friend is making a wise decision and I wish him the best of luck.

hi! No there is no such thing as too old for school. We have cases where 60-year old man graduated from highschool. Now you're friend is 30 years old, and for me, it's not too late. The age bracket of the working force is 18-60 after all, and I'm sure he'll find a job through hard work and persistence. A vocational course is actually a wise choice because many employers are looking for workers. I know some people who have been rich because of a vocational course. :)
