I applied to be a foster parent.

I finally got through to the rescue people after reading about them in the paper a few weeks ago. They rescue dogs from around the world and look for foster homes and permanent homes for these dogs. My own dog is getting on in years, and I'm not ready to commit to owning another one when he does go. So I thought that fostering would be a better option. They sent me a questionnaire last night which I read and filled out. I had to laugh at a few of the questions as they were complete contradictions. One of them was if you already had pets. Another question was if you rented your place, were pets allowed. Er, so, if pets weren't allowed, why would I have them here? I sent them the application and am waiting to hear back from them. What I like about the option of fostering is that everything is paid for by them. If I want to spoil the dog on my own, then I can, but everything is provided otherwise. Since we have a large yard, it would be perfect for a foster dog, and there's plenty of green space around for long walks, which they want the dogs to be able to go on. I told them that I wouldn't be able to do this right away, not going to tell them why, but when the problem around here is gone, then I will do this. Hopefully I hear from them soon, and get something started so they have one more foster parent on their list.

I think this will be good for you to do. You love pets so why not if you can do so. Wow so neat that some can do this. I live in an apartment where pets are not allowed at all, sadly. I was not aware of foster programs for dogs and find this to be great news. Best of luck and hope you get approved.

So do I and thanks. I do hope it will work out, it would be nice to have a dog or 2 here to help take care of until they find permanent homes.

Foster parents for dogs does such a nice job of socializing them and helping them to be ready to go into forever homes.

That may be a really great thing for you to do. I know you would take really good care of a foster pet.

This is really neat, I actually have never heard of fostering parents for pets. But certainly a great idea because of the many unwanted pets out in the world. Great job kris.
