I'm an enthusiastic cyclist and I have been cycling for years! I never ever thought that I would be involved in a cycling accident but that's exactly what I experienced on the 10th November 2010! I was in hospital for a week and I had to undergo major surgery on my left shoulder! Without being too graphic I dislocated my left shoulder. Also, the ball that fits into the socket, that broke in half, so it was very serious! I had to have a metal plate with screws inserted and it's this that is basically holding my shoulder together! The surgeon told me that it would be best if I kept this metal in place as it would involve major surgery again to have it removed. He said that as long as my movement wasn't being restricted and there was no pain then I could safely live with the metal in place! I'm still in a fair amount of pain as it wasn't that long ago that I had the surgery. So, do you have metal plates or screws in your body? Maybe you have a metal joint or something similar! What was your personal experience? Have you found a way to cope with your experience? As for me, I'm beginning to feel like part machine now, we've definitely accessed the future! Andrew
