The results are just a few hours away and most parents are anxiously waiting for good results.Their anxiety in turn is weighing heavily on the youngsters who are awaiting results at the end of twelve years of school life. Most children will go on to study at least 3 more years to obtain a Bachelor's degree. The fight for seats in medicine and engineering college will be intense. But in hindsight one does feel there is a surfeit of colleges these days and there is a real shortage of quality teaching faculty. I think this is the right time for those who wish to learn and study. It can't get better than this.

Moksha, I am sweating, but not becoz of the reason you've stated. Its so hot out here. :) I really dont know why we mass manufacture. That way, we possibly reduce the versatility of our kids. When we get coached into thinking in a way, we dont let our minds think in other direction, do we? So basically, if a child of mine failed there, I'd say good kid, you will be as great as Bill Gates. Just my thought. Personally, I would only have taught my child at home, and made him or her a tennis star. Lot of money there which these Engineers and Doctors dont earn in their life time. :)

I suppose Hyderabad will have its annual rains by beginning of Jun.That is not too far away so use this opportunity to shed some cals and get fitter. Yeah India is suffering a colonial hangover. The schools were designed as vocational institutes by the countries which experienced Industrial revolution. They thought 8 hours of school would prepared children to work in their factories. India ,then needed no schools as the industrial revolution gave India a miss. But India undertook their education method and has been guilty of mass production of mediocre students but of late the children are going on for higher studies and the good ones end up outside India.

Academic education is very important to Indians and most parents worry a lot. But the education scenario is full of options and there are plenty of options available. Till some time back it was engineering or medicine but now things are better.

I remember the time when I was waiting for my result! It is a tough time despite knowing that you have done your paper well there is always room for doubt! Moreover this result is a crucial one since it is used to determine where to go next. With so many students passing out every year and so many colleges opening there can be little said about the dropping quality of education. I just hope that the AICTE and other such committees in India take stern steps regarding the quality of education here.

In Nigeria, the situation is not quite different. Many parent and their kids also goes through some kind of nightmare to get an admission for the kid at the university. Sometimes, some children have to spend 2 or more years sitting various trial exams to enable him or her gain an admission. Infact, the examination is very competitive.

The awareness creates the competition and soon you will have more colleges and schools. In India the demand for mrdical colleges is insatiable and Indians are ready to shell out any amount for a medical seat. As regards the engg courses there are plenty of colleges but the issue now is lack of quality faculty.
