Those things are just as old as 8-track tapes. Funny. I can't believe we used to use them. I like what they have now better. Well that goes to show you how far we have come with computers and storage.

I remember when I was a kid, i would always poke holes in the disk with pens and my parents would get pissed.

I think you mean 5 inch floppies - that is what the graphic is. 8 inch discs were used in huge computer centers that took over from tape drives - back in the punched card days that was the only way of 'talking' to a computer ie before keyboards. I used computers then and it was still magic and saved me massive amounts of work. I still have hundreds of 360Kb and 1.2Mb 5 inch floppies here at home. It is hard to imagine that before hard drives, my Amstrad PC1512 desk top computer (512Kb of RAM) had the DOS 3.1 operating system in one floppy drive and the program like Lotus 123 in the other drive and still room to save your data. Indeed, that was the up-market model as they sold PC's with just one 360KB floppy drive and you could still do word processing, spreadsheets, data bases and CAD design work.

Oh yes, 5 inch disk...the fact is that I simply call them "disk". Yes, today a lot of thing changed, but with these old computer was possible to do almost everything: to write, to calculate, to draw...in this sense things didn't change so much.
