Giving birth is an amazing achievement. It is a wonderful, life-changing event. But it's an event that changes our body as well. Our body spent 9 months nurturing and growing our baby. All the changes that helped to bring our baby into this world are now abruptly reversed. I just gave birth to a healthy 7 pund baby boy last february 25, 2011. My prepregnancy weight was 55 kilos and i gained 17 kilos during pregnancy. Now, i need to lose 5 kilos. What can a new mom like me do to return to prepregancy weight or shape?

You can do exercise after 6 months from the date of delivery.THis is what I did after I gave birth to my first child and now I regain my petite feature.

I am concerned about weight gain during pregnancy, i've put 10 kg in 8 months, and i expect a rapid growth before delivering the baby, at least so i heard from other moms. I intend to wear that special belt that helps the abdomen recover and i also want to brestfeed the baby. That will burn calories as the body produces the milk. As for the exercises, i admit being a bit lazy, but i guess lifting the baby, running after him, sleeping less and eating healthier will help. I hope so, at least:)

You can do some some exercises that will sweat you out. You can dance while the baby is sleeping. Doing all those household chores can also help you to be back in shape. In addition, eat lots of fruits and vegetables and drink lots of water to speed up your metabolism. Just keep in mind that foods that you ate should be compensated with vigorous moves so that they will not store up again as fats.

It is very hard to lose pregnancy weight for some people while others bodies seem to bounce back very quickly!I think it has to do with exercise but more importantly with diet and metabolism as well. For my first child I went from 103lbs. to 175lbs. I gained 72 pounds! It took almost 2 years to lose the extra weight. For my second child again I gained more than I was supposed to. But this time it was only 52lbs. Since I ate healthier after I had her and had 2 children to care for I lost the weight much quicker. Don't give up! As long as you try to get back into shape it will happen. Consistency is the key. It might not happen as fast as you would like but it will if you keep at it. Good luck!

Hello angelo, Me too, I have a baby and she is turning 6 months old this end of May. I am expected to deliver through caesarian section like what was happened on my second pregnancy. Luckily, when I arrived in the delivery room, I’m about 6cm dilated so I have no choice but to deliver it in a natural way. Losing weight and getting back in shape is also an issue to me after giving birth. What I did is just follow thepostpartum exercises. Since I was able to deliver it naturally I can do different positions for postpartumexercise. Also, watch out for the proper diet. Right now, I was able to lose 7 pounds now. Good luck!
