My husband already has an aquarium with a big Arowana fish on it as his pet... I want to have my own pet too...a small dog is what i want, like shitzu or chihuahua, but i can't. Our house is small and we cannot accomodate a dog, plus no one will take care of him when we're out for work. So now, i'm trying to like the arowana instead because i know i really can't have a dog at home :(

Hello Jasmin_niza, If you really want a dog and your husband agree with this, it is something that can be done. Not every pet dog stay at home with somebody, you know? Most of the dog owners work during the day and their dogs stay home alone for 7 or 8 hours. We, too, have 8 hours jobs, and the dog waits for us until we return home. If you make sure she exercises enough before you leave her home alone, she will be tired enough to sleep until you return home from work. The space is not a problem, either. I have a friend that lives with two large dogs - an Airedale Terrier and a Great Dane - in a small apartment (one bedroom). As I said, if she is with her owners and she benefits from enough exercise, you'll have a happy dog, no matter how large is your house.

hello, Yeah, because of your work you cannot have a dog. Well, you start liking the Arowana because this is the only pet you can have since both of you are working. right? Its alright at least both of you will love the Arowana fish and both of you will take care of it.

You are right, i need to start liking the arowana, it's easy to take care of it as compared to a dog...

Why not a cat? Cats are great for people who work because they're mostly self suffecient. Some people just aren't "cat people," but they can be good pets and are easy to care for. I am not a "dog person," but I know that even if I were, my work schedule would just not accomodate one. You could also look into other pets like rodents (hamsters, ferrets, etc.) or birds.
