This maid spoiled three shirts of hubby

Our clothes are washed using Samsung full automatic washing machine, but one thing I see it does not clean the collars of the shirts properly. So I told our maid servant to sprinkle little detergent poweder there and rub with a soft brush, that I gave her, this was 7 days ago. Next the clothes are given to our washer woman, she takes it from home and delivers back after ironing them, for this she charges 3 rupees each, if she will wash too, she takes 5 rupees each. Well you may ask, why we don’t get it washed by her, my answer is, we don’t find the clothes clean, they don’t change the water during wash at home or near river, the clothes may look clean, but still smelly, it may come from others. While going university, hubby changed his pant-shirt as usual, he showed me the shirt, Ohh, my God the collar is torn, the foolish made has rubbed it for hours probably, three shirts are now like that, hubby will never wear them, I feel guilty. Have you faced something similar? You wash and iron your clothes or give it to washer woman or laundry shops? How much they charge, for washing and ironing and only ironing? Just want to know friends? Please respond and share your views. Kalyani ‘Namastey’. . God bless you to enjoy a lucky day ahead.

I know how you feel. But everyone of us makes mistakes. I have had problems in the past with maids and wahing, I have had problems with machine washing and I have also made my own mistakes. Now it´s easier because there are better washing products. I use some sort of oxigen based product to clean better soiled garments. I use the product, rub it with my hands and then place them in the washing machine. I don´t use power detergent for color garments as sometimes they show. When I can get a house help, I explain all this and stay watching the first time. I would hide a brush from any maid and even from myself. I wash everything at home.

I agree..I think it best suitable that "hired help" be supervised on their first day. That way, any hang-ups will be corrected and that there will be lesser mistakes in the future.

And we must not forget that not only hired help make mistakes. We make them too. Lately, living alone, my worst mistekes are to burn food while playing at the computer. It´s a shame but I do it once in a while.

I had a washerwoman who did something like that to two of my sarees. I gave those to her. But I did feel that she did it deliberately.

Hi. Kalyni2011. I am sorry about what has happened to your husband's three shirts. I don't have a maid that does our laundry at all. My husband always takes our clothes to the laundromat so that they can get washed and dried. He folds them up himself too. Since this has happened, it probably would be best that he or you washes and takes care of the laundry from now on. That way, you all won't have any errors or problems with your clothes being washed and ironed correctly.

I have never had a maid or used a laundry shop, I always do my husband's laundry and my own laundry. We recently moved into a house and for the first time we have our own washing machine. In the past I have lived in many different apartments and I always had to share the washing machine with many other people. It is very nice to have my own washing machine, because I am able to do the laundry whenever I choose and I don't have to wait in line. I also iron our clothes on my own.

I have not so far the experience of facing something similar you have mentioned but what I have observed so far in my own life is that the maids behave in such a way that sometimes it seems to me that they have come of the families of persons like the Tatas,Birlas or Ambanis.

Hi Kalyani, its very rare to see that machine works upto our or humanbeing satisfaction. For that reason they are called as Machines and we are called as humanbeings. I have tried so many times washing clothes by hand as well as by washing machine but still i think hand work is good compare to that washing machine because we know where and all shirt is dirty and we will wash it cleanly but washing machine won't see those things. Just it will do its usual work.

dear Kalyani, No,i never give our clothes to be washed by laundry shops or other people. I can handle my time and do all the house hold chores, aside from i am very meticulous when it comes to washing and ironing clothes. But for quilted bed covers i took those ones for dry clean, too heavy for me to wash then. I guess i need to apply as your wash girl maa,can i ? I am sure you will be satisfied with my washing and ironing..i am good with it Hope you a good day always

Sorry about what happened to your hubby's shirt. I am so sad that you quoted this line as well "the foolish made ". I was once a maid. Being a servant is not easy. So, . I guess you can go and bring some of your clothes, especially clothes for work in nearby laundry shop. It is safe and clean. I guess, it didn't pay that much. God bless.

I don't have a maid at my home. I do all the washing. I make sure to put the clothes into a bucket full of hot water and detergent for few hours before putting them into washing machine. This way the stains are already blur and after washing it in the machine, the stain are completely gone. My mom has a maid at her place, she never relies on the maid...she makes sure she makes the maid do the things in front of her so that she can cope up with any mistakes the maid makes. Maybe you should check with your maid well before letting her do all the work herself. This way you can stop you maid from doing silly things!
