hey..its not bad..the whole story..something of a Titanic kinda feel.. guy fell in love with someones wife..try to steal her away..from hubby..for supposedly better life with him..then the venue where all the event took place destroyed..in this case the travelling Circus.. in titanic..see young jack..stealing someones fiancee..and all the love affair ends in the sinking of Titanic.. similar..in a sense. Christophe Waltz Packed super 5 star acting.. this guy is unstoppable.. maybe this movie can deliver him another Oscar as best supporting actor. Overall this movie is good..not so mushy mushy romantic..not chick flick either..well standing movie in its own..historically feels correct in the entire film lenght..just some scenes move too fast from one to another.. 7/10

We managed to get free tickets to this, since I quite wanted to see it but my other half really wasn't convinced. I quite liked it, and the acting was better than expected. Christophe Waltz was fantastic, and although I usually hate Robert Pattinson, he was convincing too. Reese Witherspoon was great as well, and she had some truly fantastic costumes, hair and make up. As a huge animal lover, I found some of us Rosie's abuse hard to watch, though it was true to the book and obviously crucial for the plot - you needed it to hate August. In the book, August is a paranoid schizophrenic, which I totally didn't get from the film - and I much preferred it that way. If his temper is down to a mental illness in a time when no one knew or talked about such things, you pity him. The acting, costumes, animals and history were all really good, but I agree it wasn't hugely dramatic, and I don't remember anything of the soundtrack. I think I'd go with 6/10. Partially because there was at least ten minutes I couldn't watch! If we'd paid the full £10+ to go and see it, I would have been a little disappointed (and I think my other half would have been more than a little!) but with the free tickets, it was a nice trip. I'd say if you can do an Orange Wednesday (Though I think they may be UK only?) then go for it! Failing that, unless you're desperate to see it, I'd wait until it was out for rental/cheap DVD.

Man, What a perfect comparative your absolutely right. Not that its odd or anything but isn't Reese Witherspoon almost 40 and Robert Patterson or whatever is like what 20 ? I am not trying to pull a double standard I know this is actually normal now a days. No Doubt, Reese Witherspoon is a great actress and she looked amazing, I just feel that they could of picked a better actress for the role. Then again maybe, They thought the script was lacking and they needed the star power to boost sales. I really think, People are either gonna ABSOLUTELY LOVE this movie or HATE IT, It is just one of those type of movies and I also think the movie was rather slow and long, It could of been cut down by at least 30 minutes and it lacked ACTION. There was literally maybe 3 Action Scenes in the entire movie. I agree if anyone is to win a best supporting role it would go to Christophe Waltz, Everything he did was so believable. It was hard to believe he was even acting. I really enjoy movies that have to do with Animals doing Super Amazing things. If it was not for what happens at the ending of the movie I would not even be writing this review, Great Scene but it could not save the overall movie. I don`t know if I would recommend Water for Elephants, But once again I agree with you. I give the movie a solid 6.5 out of 10, My Final Recommendation is just Wait for it to come on In Demand, NetFlix, or on DVD.
