For those who English is not their mother tongue, what's the motive for you to learn English? To pass exams in school?Or to communicate with foreign friends?Or because you have to use English at work? Do you really LIKE English or just because it's a must-learn? For me,I have an American boyfriend so I have to learn English well, and I also want to impress him with my English skills.I also enjoy readling English novels and news, etc. What about you?Why do you learn English?

In my case, I have to learn the language because of work. I have to speak fluent english at work because I communicate with Americans, mostly. Learning english isn't that hard, the pronunciation is what's important. Here in the Philippines, cup, cop and cap sounds the same so I had to work on their differences. That goes the same with several others.

It is a must to learn English in our country. I think it's more widely used than our national language. Our laws are all in English, so are most textbooks. The major newspapers are also in English.

English is the medium of instruction in school so we all have to learn it by heart. It is also easier to get around abroad if you know english. If you know other foreign languages then good for you but if you don't know a lot, English would be a good start.

Here in the Philippines, English is our second language. We know how to speak our native tongue Tagalog , but we still do have subject in Pilipino. But at school, the medium of teaching is English until we graduate and have our job. Since we know how to speak & write in English fluently, we can also be hired in International companies, who pays higher salaries.

English is our second language here in my country. We have an English subject in elementary, so learning English is really required for us. We believe that learning English at a young age will give us an advantage when we look for jobs. In my job, I am required to speak in English as we deal with our American clients and customers everyday. I am also required to be good in both written and english. I enhance my English speaking and writing skills by watching American TV shows and movies, reading English books, and just by merely conversing in English.
