How are you today ?

How are you today ? - Have you ever thought of why did you always say "How are you today ?"

Recently I have just read an article about" How are you today?". The writer had some self-reflection on this verses and I think it is good for us to think about it.He said that each time when he said something like this ,he just treat it as a polite manner to say hi to somebody automatically just because of we have nothing else to say when we encounter a person. Most of the time he wasn't really concern about how that person was really doing and he felt that our heart can be so cool when we say something warm from our mouth. He hopes that he can really concern about others more when he first meet that person during the day. What do you think and do you have any experience about this topic to share with us?

There is always hope in life - there is always hope in life.
Hey, you've got company .I am having a cold too.I have just seen my doctor in the morning and he gave me some medication to help me out. Hey, I hope you will get better by tomorrow and we all hope that we have health, aren't we ? You know something? It looks like this simple discussion are working really well and people responds to my discussion much more than I expected. I think we always getting use to something common and never pay any attention from what we did. A simple greeting but can raise up lots of things in our mind. In all the discussion I have received through this discussion, I do found out that there are some people who are really experience some good day but the others are having a bad day. Some of them feel bore in their life and online discussion can be a way for them to stay away from the unhappy life for a moment.Whatever it is and I think mylot do provide a platform for us to have some fun and at the same time, we can make a few cents from what we type into our discussion. It is not a bad thing anyway. Happy mylot and a happy day to you.

How are you today, friend? I like it when we see each other during the day. My colleagues working in the same office like to greet me this way in English and I always say that I am fine if I feel good, but not when I feel tired and sleepy after a night's rest. It is now morning hours at my end and I am feeling so good today and will soon go to work in the office and say How are you today to my office colleagues. Enjoy your life, wlf.

I guess you must be fine today since you already have over 13000 post in mylot. How did you do that? I mean how could you write so many post or comment in mylot.I think you must be with mylot for more than a few years.I hope I can be like you, then I will be rich in mylot since I can type that much.Since I can only type it with a few fingers because I don't know the proper typing method . I think I really need to improve my typing skills , then I can improve my typing speeds. Well, if I can do that , I will type into mylot like a rocket. And of coruse I can earn much more then just copy and paste some words from other site. Copy is not wise and usually mylot will pay nothing from those copy and paste discussion.Anyway, Have a good day and keep on say hi to everybody(say hi for me too)

My feelings are - if you don't want to really know the answer then don't ask the question!! Say Hi, Hello, G'day, smile, nod a greeting. You can do all these things but if you really don't care how someone is or don't want to hear about what ails them then don't bloodywell ask. This is a pet peeve of mine. Rant over.

I feel ok, a little irritated but ok. It's very late and I'm finding it difficult to get to sleep so I thought I would have a moan and groan in this discussion! I think that this very statement is taken for granted! It normally is the first thing you say when you perhaps meet someone for the first time, it's more of an ice breaker I think. Still, there are other statements that you can use such as making a comment on the weather or something else. It sometimes seems like pointless chit chatter! Anyway, when I have had some proper sleep then I will feel better but at the moment I'm suffering with insomnia! Andrew

Well Andrew , I hope you have already fall into sleep already by the time I post my responds ( perhaps you have already woke up already). Your comment made me think of something creative . Why can't we use some creative way to say hello to others (once in a while) and I think that we will see some different response from others as well. How about...ah....where is your hair? or how is your doggie doing today?I think it would be fun to see those people's reaction and I hope they will laugh too. Oh , yes, I have another good one : where do you hide your money at home ?HA HA HA.... I think the person would probably look at me with a strange face and then says : I won't tell you.or Tell me about yours first?Ha ha ha, I really think that it would be fun if we can greet someone like this. What do you think?

I am feeling a bit stressed out today.I feel like there have been to many people that i had to talk to all week, just to get a few things sorted out and i feel that this week is going to be the same.I think that there are loads of things that are playing on my mind and there are loads of things that need to be sorted out and that there is never enough hours in the day to make all the calls to get things sorted.

Hi there, I am feeling depressed today. It was enrollment day yesterday. I approached our department chair to have her fixed my schedule for the first semester. I have still got 13 subjects to finish before I graduate. My parents are expecting me to graduate next year but I still need to finish my OJT on summer. I feel like my life is doomed when I heard about the news. My parents would surely be disappointed once they have found out most specially my mother... :'( i don't know what to do anymore.. I don't wanna go home yet because i am afraid of telling them about it... :( moreover, my ailment's been bugging me for the past few months... :(

You know all things considered, I am fine. I am good, I am comfortable, I am breathing, I am alive. That is really all that many can hope for in this day and age. Could things really get much better? Well of course they can, you always got to shoot for the top. Could things get much worse? You better believe that they can in fact. Actually, when presented with this conversation in real life, I say I'm doing fine and everyone moves on with our day. It is one of those conversation pieces that are really just wired into the human mind. Person A asks how a person is doing. Person B normally responds that they are doing fine. They walk off, the most elementary, and quite frankly clinched exchange that there is. Perhaps neither party cares but it does feed the need for a social exchange to occur, to use up a few seconds of time, to fulfill the need. Often times its not really something that you should really need to read too deep into.

I don't usually ask this question just for the heck of it.I always expect some reply from this question. It is an invitation for a pleasant conversation or just a brief one but still pleasant. So when somebody asks me this question...i would always reply what I really feel at the moment. And after I have said my piece, I will in turn ask the same question to the person , making sure that that person is just feeling just as okay as I am. Or when one of us or both of us are not feeling okay, then it is again an opportunity to share our pain with another. This questions gets a long , long way especially between friends and loved ones.

You're right that it sometimes warm our hearts when someone asks how we are doing for the day instead of just saying hello. Sometimes the question can be automatic that it loses its meaning. But if done properly and really get concerned on how a person is really doing so far, then it would really warm someone's heart. As far as I'm concerned, we don't really ask a person how they are doing today. It's just the way we are here at our place. But if we are to ask a person how they are doing for the day, it's really more because of curiosity and true concern especially if we know that this particular person had been going through some tough times.

How am i today? My head is aching since after lunch, yet i am happy. My cousins from Manila surprised me by coming into the mall where our office is. We had a nice time chatting and laughing at one of the restaurants at the mall. I promised to go to our hometown tomorrow and sleep over so we could continue catching up our life updates. Anyway, i don't throw that line to those who are my casual friends. I give that line to my closest friends to really see how they are doing in life. A not so good reply , will be followed up by why and an offer of advise from me.

How am I today? Good question! I've felt tired and bored! Work has been so boring and slow lately! That is why I am tired and so bored! Also wished I didn't promise a friend that I'd meet him for a drink! This guy makes me feel weird because he is alittle unusual! I should of told him no! I never did go! I just went home after work instead of meeting this guy for a drink! So I am feeling a bit guilty! That is how I have felt today!

I think it's an acknowledgement and perhaps habit. I usually wait for someone to say "hi, how ya doin?" to me first. Sometimes people ask me, "how are you?" and I say "fine, how are you?" and they say nothing. So they might be in a bad mood and yet still trying to be civil, perhaps trying to convince themselves that the world's not so bad. For example, I'm having a bad day. I say, "hi, how are you?" And you say nothing. So I get more upset and think to myself, @#$%& you then! But if I say, "hi, how are you?" and you say, "fine, and you?" then I feel the world is not so bad after all, although I still might be upset, it makes my day better.

If I pass someone I just usually say hello and smile. If I am sitting in a public place and knitting or cross stitching and they show interest then we strike up a conversation around my love of crafting and their interests in sharing it. If we talk long enough we go into other discussions but its always a nice learning discussion to speak to different people.

I agree with Alebelt.. And i hate also if stranger ask me this question, because if he/she dont know me almost at all, and dont know anything about me then how it can ask about how im today if it dont know how i was yesterday. I hope u understand what i mean with that. I feel silly when stranger ask me that, because i dont want tell stranger about what im worried (if im worried), and anyway to that stranger it wont mean anything so why do i need tell it. Its just my thoughts about it :)
