There are lots of weird tradition worldwide just to be beautiful and I find this one so strange and painful. Probably most of you heard and see Foot binding, Chinese do it, they foot bind their daughter's to be able to get married to middle class men. When I was a kid I wonder why their shoes is like on the doll and I think it's cute but I never thought how gross and painful they have to go through just to have this perfect foot bound. Click the link to read over it (not referral link)http://www.indonews.co/track/buxp.html. Is there people who still do this? I wonder in this modern world if until now, they do it. Ouchh!

I've watched an episode in National Geographic about this and yes, it really makes you think of the strangeness of this practice. (as well as being painful too). But I think they had long ceased doing this practice. China hasn't been a monarchy for quite some time now, and I think the tradition was widely practiced during those times. I'm not sure though if other cultures practice foot binding. I had read however an African tribe wherein very young women wear brass rings around their necks to make it longer when they grow up. For them, longer-than-usual necks are signs of beauty.

Yeah, that's another story, I've seen that too and it makes me chill. I don't even wear necklace cause I am not comfortable with it or anything surrounds my neck. That doesn't look good at all, well, what can we do with their tradition. Too bad!
