Summer activities and vacation plans?

As summer approaches, I am excited to begin planning our family activities for the summer. My son is 2 -1/2 years old and our family plans will surround him this year, as they did last year. Tomorrow we are going to see Disney on Ice - Toy Story 3! That is one of my son's favorite movies. We also have weekly plans to meet with different moms and kids his age throughout the summer. A local movie theater offers free showings of older movies during the day for the children and parents. So I think we will be trying that this year as well. We will also be doing a lot of swimming this summer! We would really like to take him on a vacation, but not sure we will be able to afford one. What are your plans for the summer? Do you have any suggestions for family things to do that are low-cost? What activities do you find your family enjoys the most? have you had any super-special vacations that you would like to do again?

Unfortunately, we won't be going on holiday this year, absolutely broke! But it's nice to daydream about it and probably pack plan to next year or the next. Everytime we go away, that is, if we go abroad, it is usually back to the East where most of our relatives are, it is a completely different world over there, different weather, different pace of life, different ideas and ideals. But I definitely learn so much after going out there.

Where is back east for you? I have never been abroad but would certainly love to one day. That is a "daydream" of mine. Right now, times are very tough for most, so I can understand you not going on a vacation. We probably won't be doing anything huge or going anywhere expensive for the summer. We will stay close to home and take advantage of the many summer-fun activities Tampa Bay has to offer. Hopefully in the next few years, though, we'' be able to take a nice, relaxing vacation!

Yes, this is true! Kids sure do love animals! And my son is no exception. We have a great zoo right here in Tampa called Lowry Park Zoo. I think we will try it out this summer with him! Thanks for your suggestion! Hope you have a wonderful summer!

A friend of mine suggested me to go with him to Panama city, Florida on Memorial day holiday, but I thought about it couple of times, and I just refused his suggestion. First of all, I just spent that much money on my trip to Mainland China; second of all, I might want to waste my other vacation time, I still need some for emergency. Finally, I just don't want to drive that far, so I rather stay home. So, this summer might be simply boring for me, working and working, keep on paying my bills and debts.

Yes, I understand totally! Money (or lack there of) is probably the main reason we do not take big vacations. Hopefully we will be able to one day, but for right now, we stick pretty close to home and try to take advantage of the summer-fun activities Tampa Bay has to offer. Occassionally we will go to Orlando for one night and go to one of the parks - such as Seaworld, or Disney World, or Universal Studios. I think Memorial Day weekend at Panama City would be very busy. If you guys do decide to go in the future, you could try a weekend that's not a holiday. Maybe it wold not be as expensive. Hope you have a wonderful summer and don't work too hard!

Hi Suzzette Each summer my boyfriends little one visits us from England for a full month. Yearly we take her to Arkansas where Oma (grandma) lives. We very much enjoy it there for vacationing because there are so many free outdoor activities we really enjoy, such as row boating, fishing, swimming in the rive and scuba diving. We have done do now for 7 years and truly have a great time. Last year was the only year we had to miss, but all in all it has been really great to be completely outdoors for a month. I do remember doing some of the activities you mentioned with my own children as the movies theaters here also offered a lot of free days too. I also loved the library summer activities because lot of crafting, and wild life demonstrations took place, not to mentioned free air conditioning. lol

It's great to have a yearly tradition for your vacations! It gives you something to really look forward to! Outdoor activities can be super fun - especially when they are cheap or free! I still haven't taken Brody (my son) to any of the free activities at the library yet. Last summer he seemed a bit young still. So maybe we can try that out this summer! Hope you guys enjoy your vacation time again this year!

I am not familiar with Camiguin Island. Where is this located? I believe any island with many tourist-type spots and activities must be very beautiful and enjoyable! I hope you are able to go back on vacation there!

Summer just ended in my country. Currently we are having the rainy season already. This summer we had a blast! Me and my family had a good bonding time together. We went to the oceanarium to see different species of sea creatures in the sea, had a fish spa that was very tickling and saw the fountain show. Then we went to a vacation spot in my country, Davao. There we went snorkeling, did some zorbing and tried the zipline. I did the zipline with my 5 year-old and he wasn't really scared. He was strapped to me and we did the slide together on top of a mountain that we first hiked. I am so proud of him to even had the strength to take that hiking trip. I can't wait for our next trip next year! With the activities you have planned this summer, I'm sure you will have a nice bonding time with your son too
