Her name is Kim Deal and she plays the bass guitar on this old band called The Pixies. I really really love this woman. She's the real deal! (pun intended) I mean when you see her perform on stage, you will really get blown away. Another female rock artist that can be considered as a runner-up is Karen O, the vocalist of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. She's like the modern version of Kim Deal. She can put so much emotion in her vocalization and you feel that she's singing to you and only you. How about you guys? Who do you think is the greatest female rock artist of your generation?

I agree with you on Kim Deal... the Pixies are amazing! Can't get behind Karen O though... The Yeah Yeah Yeahs make me kind of twitchy. The stuff she did for the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack was surprisingly good, very melodic and haunting. For me, the list is kind of long... Pat Benatar Patti Smith Melissa Auf de Mar Hayley Williams Pink (yes, really) Jenny Lewis Chibi of the Birthday Massacre Amanda Palmer

I think it is hands down Janis Joplin. She was young and in her twenties and could sing like she had been doing it for many many years. Almost as if she were born again from the 40's. She had that raspy voice that smokers have to some degree. Ball and Chain, Summertime, etc. All come straight from the soul.

I would not know who she was. I can't listen to this music without getting a headache. I hope you enjoy it though.

Hi inkyuboz: That's a really difficult question but my favorite female artists in rock are Gwen Stefani and Amy Lee. They are so different but both are really good at making their music, they have talent and attitude. I like them. ALVARO
