I know Hentai already exist since the 80's but it became viral during the internet era. I remember before Hentai became epidemic, I see lots of people respecting anime, As in they respect it because of beautiful illustrations(We know usually American Cartoons looks Ugly) and Niche stories. But now when you say Anime the first thing that will come in some people's mind are hentai and Loli. In some other message boards I have flame-wars with some trolls calling anime as animu, They think Anime is nothign but sexx and violence. Before internet became affordable, I remember most people respects anime and talks about how much better anime is than American cartoons.

Yeah I agree with you. The harem type genre is becoming more popular in anime. And there is also those fanservice types they release. I guess it's all for attracting viewers. Then there is also the increase in perverted viewers. Maybe that's one of the reasons why it turned out this way.

Though harem is kinda naughty at least its a bit acceptable compared to those sadistic hentais with tentacled monsters and the guro genre. Then there is those fan arts that ruined the reputation of the characters who are supposed to be respectable.

Ya. Harem not too bad but a pure hentai.. what a disgrace to anime image :( I really respect anime so much. Maybe they want to get viewers attention or publicity.

It's really disturbing that something I really respect is now an industry that many people disrespect it's really heartbreaking

Hello Captain, I started chasing hentai since Highschool, until i formally been seeing it in Online Manga Sites. unfortunately, Japanese had really weird imagination in turning their anime with adding adult complication pervertion. some people think anime is just perversion and it made it worse because of the hentai. i still respect anime though, but it's not as good as before. DBZ still rocks!

The fact that DBZ is the only one you have in mind now means its hard to think of any new anime that is respectable. Those fans who create fan arts ruins anime too because they make x-rated fanarts of every character in existence.
