Anyone tried trail running yet?

Trail Running - A short, nice trail I found close to where I live so that I can start trying out trail running.

I have now completed 14 5Ks, one 10K and one half marathon. I am continuing training for another half later this season. I also want to catch a few more smaller races before then. But this week I found a trail that is only about 2.5 miles from my house. I can ride my bike up, run the short 1.53 mile trail two or three times then head home before the aid has to leave! I loved it so far! It is more taxing on the body of course but I love the challenge. Anyone else like trail running too?

I ahve never run at the beach. I love the beach though so I imagine I would really like it! I only run for fun and to stay fit. I am really slow too! What do you expect from an old lady? lol!

Wow, that is an awesome achievement! Well done on completing those events. I always think of getting back into running as I used to love it as a teenager, but there are always other things that take up my time. I have recently gotten into mountain biking instead as I love the natural outdoors and being on trails. If I did take up running seriously, it would be on trails and not on concrete. I did a bit of barefoot running earlier in the year and loved that as it is less stressful on the body than running in shoes. I did it on grass and on the beach first thing in the morning. It was great. Too cold now at this time of the year. I will get back into it when it warms up a bit I think.

I have done a little bit of trail riding. Very little. But I have really enjoyed it when I have done it.I rode the trail before I tried to run it. So now I ride my bike up there and run the trail then ride my bike back!

Most of the trails here are pretty steep and rough. Wide fire trails to go up and then tight and twisty trails to ride down. Not too good for running on unfortunately, but we have loads of awesome beaches for that. I have a friend down south who competes in mountain running races where you start at the bottom of the hill and climb your way to the finish at the top. Some are marked courses and others you have to find your own way. He is quite good and regularly finishes in the top ten. Hard work, but rewarding I reckon!

I admire your indomitable spirit .you find time to train marathon and do it perseveringly, what is more, when you are puffed out,you are anxious about your son who needs taking care of all the time.

Thank you for your kind words. I really enjoy running and so that is something I do for myself and for my son. I know I need to stay in the best shape possible to take care of him properly. So running helps me and also helps me take care of him!
