changing office physical arrangements

I work in the academe and each time that we have an employee appointed to head an office, office physical arrangements would be changed by the person and I often wonder why. It could be because of personal preference. In my case, when I got promoted and inherited an office, I didn’t change a thing. The arrangement was okay with me and I noticed that when people come in they would say that the office is cozy. So this thing of changing physical arrangement of an office by a new head had me wondering why. Does this happen in your workplace, as well? More than personal preference, are there other reasons for this? Any ideas mylotters? Thanks for your enlightenment.

Each individual have his or her own taste and what that person considered to be his or her own taste. Just as it happens in the workplace it also happens in the home front where couple change things here and there. Among political leaders that come in to head one governmental post they also engage in changing things here and there. No two people have the same taste. there are people who are good in interior decour and there are people who just take things the way they see it.It depends on their preference and their preference depends on the background of that person. Maybe the person was brought up in a home whereby decoration is a regular acts. But there are person who grew up in a home where nothing is taking to be important. The same thing applies to fashion and clothing. There are person who are neat and they like dressing corporately and very clean. However, there person who wear dirty clothing.

There really are persons who wear inappropirate clothing. I just saw someone reprimanded in our workplace for emceeing with ordinary T-shirt when guests were wearing semi-formal attires. Your environment does reflect your personality. Have a nice jay naija and sorry for this month-old reply.

Hi, there is much of a factor on personal preference on re arranging the work place. Personally, I might change some of the arrangements in the office that I have inherited, it has something to do with the propriety factor. Other than personal preference, it maybe for some improvements or enhancement on the work place's being conducive for work. Human engineering could also be a reason for physical re arrangement of the office. :)

Hi chuyins.. My apologies for my 2-month old reply. I have been in and out of mylot and out mostly. Something to do with a change in my life. But I tend to agree with you on the proprietary factor. That is what I observed in my workplace anyhow. Although I would not rule out personal preference, too. Thanks lots for your response and cheers!

Most department heads would rather have the office look in such a way that it makes them at ease and comfortable. Some also consider the ambiance and the people working in the area and ensure that the office layout is ideal for work. There are instances when the safety of employees and efficiency is consider that's why the layout of a particular office is changed from time to time. A department which has dependency on another department would much better be placed close to each other so that it would make communications and transactions faster.
