Biometrics Launch Tomorrow!

I was surprised when I went out of my room to have some lunch. At the office hallway, on the table where we log in our ins and outs through the Log Book, a poster says: "Biometrics full implementation tomorrow". Then I saw the biometrics machine. I told the guard who was standing next to me "Biometrics na tayo tomorrow?" ("We'll be in biometrics tomorrow?". The guard answered in the affirmative, and taught me how to use it. So I was like, "ok we'll be just using our thumbs when we log in and out of work". I like the idea even if I always go late at work. Actually I feel excited. Alas, something will motivate me to wake up early ion the morning! But what puzzles me is this: will we still be using a daily time record and submit it to the HR department every 15th and 30th of the month? Some co-workers I asked can't say a final answer. But they all think the submitting a DTR is futile since the biometrics will do the recording for us. Now, I want to ask you. If your office will be / is implementing the biometrics for logging in and out of work, do you still use keep the DTR and submit it to the HR or no?

During the first week that we had our biometrics implemented, we still use the DTR. That's because HR was still making sure that in case the biometrics fails to register your fingerprints , yet you are present, then they could check it on your DTR. Well, it's nice to have a biometric machine. No one could cheat anymore, by punching their friend's DTR.

You are right. That's the main reason why the HR wanted that biometrics scanner in the first place. Do you think it will be good if I keep a DTR for myself just in case?

You don't need the DTR anymore. The HR people will take care of your daily time keeping. They will just have the biometrics manifest, printed when their cut-off comes, to see the recorded attendance. Your salary will be based from there.

Thanks a lot for the info! Now I am kinda relieved. The biometrics commenced this morning. I was 2 minutes late! 8:02 to be exact. One of the HR people was in the biometrics machine checking if everyone will not be confused in using it (it was the company's first time). And the HR guy told us that after having our fingerprints scanned in the biometrics machine, we still have to log in the Log Book.
