Why isn't there a dislike button on facebook?

..there is a dislike button on youtube , why doesn't facebook have it- so people can press it if they dislike something. There should be balance. I'm sure if people like something, some people hate it.

yeah your right, i want to dislike some pages or comments on facebook but i find none. its unfair. facebook is unfair. there should be one but what i did? when i see comment's i didn't like, i respond that i don't agree or i don't like it. that's how i show my dislike to the post.

Ahh...I have been musing the same from days, it has been times when I am very desperately looking for DISLIKE button on facebook. It seems, FB is protecting F2F fight by not having one!

Yeah, the dislike button may cause fights especially if that person has a short temper. But I think people should be prepared fr whatever others will say about him or her on the internet. welcome to mylot proBlogger.

This is a good idea. I always think that the websites like scam ones should have some punishment. If we can list them in the dislike button, then at least no more people will be cheated by them. And it will be a punishment for those scam websites. I love China

Yes, that would be an advantage of having a dislike button- we could save many people the trouble of joining bad sites. I really hope Facebook will put a dislike button soon.

I agree with you that there is no dislike option in FaceBook . But heard from the current developers that they are going to introduce the same with a lot more new features.

Oh really? That is great..what do you mean with a lot more new features.. not only like.. will they put love and hate then? That would be great, with all those smart people working on fb, I'm sue they can come up with better ideas.

But it better if you let people know that you dislike something too. There are just times that I want to dislike something, but I can't since there is no button for it.

I also notice that. That's why when I see a post that i dont like I just post a comment "Dislike". I wish Facebook would put that dislike button.

I don't really comment on comments or posts or links or whatever(people just put on anything on facebook) that I don't like since the person might be pissed at me. So I just prefer a dislike button.

Its not hidden that I'm not a fan of Facebook, but one would think that a thumbs up or thumbs down system would make a lot of sense. I mean, YouTube has it for videos as you said. So really that would really make a lot of sense for something like Facebook. It would not be all that hard to put in there. Then again, it would also be something that can be abused a lot. There are going to be a lot of companies enticing their fans to go to the other person's page on Facebook. There is going to be a lot of double dealing potentially. Still it would be an intriguing addition. Much like Facebook in general, it is there if you want to use it, but if you don't want to use it, then you can cheerfully ignore it. Not the worst idea, but I can see why Facebook might not want to invite certain headaches. You can make many arguments for and against something like this and go back and forth all day.

Yeah, I think so too. Since most are using this option to their sites, maybe facebook is not agreeable to the idea. So they just did what they thought is good for them.

Hi Lady1993, I feel its right, there should have been a dislike button. But the reason might be not to hurt any one and thereby having trouble and egos. So its other way of just say like or unlike it.Cheers!

Well it's just an idea of mine.I don't know about the others because we have different views. Or maybe facebook have thought about it before but just stick to what they believe is just right for their site.
