Traveling is a good way to broaden your horizons. When you visit different cultures, experience different ways of living you not only walk away with a better understanding of others, it allows you to appreciate your own circumstances more. It allows you to see first hand what the world has to offer. There is beauty in the ugliest places, and ugliness in places of great beauty. If you take the opportunity to expose yourself to more than you are, you become more.

It depends on the motivation. I am sure that there are some who travel and come back and think those people in --- can show me something being happy when they are poor, or I am glad that I do not have to live like that, etc. but that is not the reason I trael. I am interested in the scenery, and the food. I am interested in the people, but not to compare them with myself. In fact I feel that each situation is different. The people of that country compare themselves with the richest people in that country or their neighbours. They do not worry about Canadians having computers, because the richest person in their country owns a herd of cattle. Now for a writer, travel is good, because if I decide to put a character from the country in a noel, I will not get a whole lot of letters and if it came with music, I would want to be accurate if I am writing about a man playing a certain misical instrument. So accuracy.

I am very keen on traveling to different countries. In my younger days I went on some long trips and felt fit from that. So traveling on a long trip gives a person strength. It gives a person knowledge of the the counties visited. I believe it is important to meet the local people. If possible it is lovely to see the native wildlife. This tends to be very educational. I went on a five day safari in Kenya. I have seen penguins in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Some countries are very large like Australia and I have been back there a second time to see and learn more. I have found out how to deal with different problems and in New Zealand I waited until low tide to do some river crossings.

Travel tells man how to deal with different problems. Not sure what all that would entail. If you travel with a very small budget I guess you would have to learn to find cheaper places to stay and ways to eat cheaper. And there could be some problems arise and you would have to learn how to over come them.

Yeah, that's right but there are more ways to learn, too. Reading, browsing through internet, communicating with friends and deal with problems at homes.

Yes, you are correct that traveling is a good way to broaden our knowledge but I guess you have to have enough funds to be used when traveling. Though it is a different kind of experience it is very costly to go to places you want to visit. As of now, I will have to be contented with reading materials that speaks about a certain place.
