I love music and my preferences varies depending to types of music. Usually I like instrumentals, ballads, new wave, retro and mellow rock. But when it comes to decades, I still get mesmerized or captured by the music of the 80's. It brings me back to my younger years. How about you? Is there a particular time or year where you find music more interesting?

I like the 90s. With all that alternative, grunge thing going on. Music was more dynamic and personal. It meant something. Not so detached like nowadays. 90s is the best!

Hi itrytoplayguitar. I like your pseudoname. I tells people that you do love music. Anyway, you are right in your assessment that songs from the 90's are more personal and dynamic. The songs of Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, etc. Thanks for commenting.

My heart lies with 1950s/1960s, some 1970s, and some early 1980s music, probably due to my age. Although there has been some better stuff around lately, for me the worst period for music was between about 1990 and about 2008 as most of what was produced during those years to me seemed very empty, soulless and boring. I also love old blues, deep south, delta stuff performed mostly by people who have the word "Blind" in front of their name (e.g. Blind Willie Johnson). It's very difficult to explain what I get out of music, but I suppose it's a case of if it touches me somehow then I love it. I'd guess most of my early life musical influences paved the way to what I got to like later on.
