Stinker is sick AGAIN!!

Hello fellow mylotters. I just took all 5 of my cats to the vet for checkups just 2-3 weeks ago. Stinker and Bootsie showed crystals in their urine, with no infections. I dutifully began feeding all of them the expensive Royal Canin SO 33 that is $52.00 a bag. The food is supposed to melt the crystals, and it did work for Stinker before. He had been sneaking the other cat food too much and I got too lax about it, and he ended up with crystals again on this last doc visit. Now that Bootsie has them as well, and they are brothers, and it is hereditary, I followed the advice of the doc to feed them all the same thing, that way I will not have to stand watch over them while they eat, put it up, take it out when they are hungry again, etc. At least he does not have crystals blocking him up, he is going pretty good and leaving a nice puddle. Poor thing, I just hope I take the right one to the vet. At least my neighbors told me about a really cheap vet in Detroit that I will take him to, rather than paying top dollar to the other guy to treat the infection. I just cannot keep paying the vet, I need things too. I am terribly concerned that one of my babies is sick after just going to the vet and getting a pretty clean bill of health! Of course they don't warranty their work like car places, so I will have to pay them again, but at least this new vet will not cost so much as the regular one. I'm a bit leary about it, because the guy is in his 70's and does not have a lot of equipment and it is in a bad area. But, at least he is cheap and since I already know what is wrong, then he doesn't really need to test. Do you have a pet with a recurring condition?

Hope Stinker will get well soon. Your love will contribute I bet. My dog is fine in all respects excepting that her coat does not shine nowadays. I have a vet who has recommended that I give her sunflower oil. I am doing that and waiting for results.

How old is your dog? Are you feeding her a high nutritious food as well? Thank you for the well wishes and Stinker thanks you too.

Preiti our pet dog - She is a source of joy.
She is a thoroughly spoilt brat. I give her chicken legs pressure cooked along with the soup and rice. She gets a good helping of pedigree food as also milk. I give her a few biscuits just as a snack. My dog will be 4 years this August.

I am the same as you, i have taken all of my cats to the vets and as we both know it is not a cheap visit.I have also change my vets, as we also found a cheaper one, when it comes to the injections, we saved alot more than 30 per cent.I think that no matter what you pay,it is one of those bills that need to be paid, just even for peace of mind.I hope things get better soon for your cat.

Well, far as saving money, I did not. Could have spent about the same amount at the regular vet, but the new one gave me something for Stinker to add to his food, so it was not a total loss. Perhaps I can feed them a less expensive food, but I have decided to give them canned as well, so there goes that idea. The canned has more water in it, plus I mix water with it so they will get more moisture. Cats surely do not drink enough and that is considered one of the culprits for urinary tract problems besides cheap food.
