Are you there?

hi brothers and sisters
today this a very new type of deases which people are getting "are you there?"ha ha ha aha a.....ya i can say this a desease yesterday i was speaking with one of my friend over the phone and i dont why he was asking after every two sentence are you there and in the entire conversation i was answering him yes i am here tell me or continue........
this is not only with my friend but many people i saw asking life this suddenly in between the conversation....ok this not only over the phine however they are asking this question while chatting online.......there is a indicator for online people on chatbox and you can see that and there different colors to show the status still they ask "Are you there ?"
is this happens with you ? if yes then please share your experience.

My dad is so abusing that words!!! He's working abroad as a seaman, and he usually calls me but I don't know if it's the signal or he just can't hear very clearly now because he would always say "are you still there?"....annoying but can't do anything, the old man would never like it if I tell him to stop asking that!!!

I guess people says that to confirm if you are not "AFK" or away from the keyboard cause even if your status is active or online, they can't assure that you are really there, so they will ask "are you there? Or maybe you're just not responsive to the topic or not paying attention that's why they're asking that. Well if you are responsive and paying attention and they're still asking that question, that is surely annoying. Tell that person to seek some help cause he got a disease that is hard to find a cure. LOL.

Yes I am here (grin) no don´t have that kind of thing going on here as yet. Our Phone lines do keep cutting out every so often now but nothing more than that. Perhaps they have poor coverage like us.
If People lose our conversation they just phone us back again.
Also the quality of the lines could be worse as well sometimes it sounds like you are talking to someone inside a Fish Tank. Only way I can describe it.
Other times the line sounds like a Chip Pan to me. However they are set to replace the lines here but I don´t know when maybe never.
I have noticed it though with other People on their Mobile Phones they keep saying are you there? But that is when I am out and about outside and they are saying Hello Hello.
Our Mobile Phone coverage is not that good at the moment either.

Yeah in couple of situation I heard about that when I was in the room my friend arrive outside my room and calling and saying are you there? Then in our chatting with my wife when there is a long gap between our conversation me or her saying are you still there... it is normal and common remarks when you asking and looking somebody.... see you around, Are you there?
