html document formatting

Does anyone know where I can go on the Internet to learn html format? I purchased some advertising and I was under the impression they were going to do it. Well, once again I was incorrect. I don't want to buy any program from affliate marketing. As we all know, some of the things they sell are useless. Please let me know about legit html document formatting. I converted a word document to html and they said that was not what they were looking for. So I need to go one or two steps deeper. Thank you for you help in advance. Best Wishes!

You can also try the word "styling" instead of formatting when doing search. For example, try here : http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Guide/Style straight from the source of w3. Now that html5 is supported by all major browsers, you could also borrow books on html5 from your library. Good luck.
