Experts say it's important that you read what you're trying to learn. I don't know the main reason but most of the time I read out loud especially when it's quiet.

Dear friend, I usually read in my mind and sound are not produced out. But when I was school there were times when I used to read alound so that my mother could know from her kitchen that I am learning. In schools too teachers would ask us to read alound other wise I usually read in my mind. Moreover I feel it would nice to read aload in public like when in airport, bus, train, parties, so on.

Hi siliguri, I was told it's very effective to read new words learned or sentences with new words learned aloud. Read it repeatedly loudly is very much easy to keep it stick to our mind. That's why reading is one of the important skills learning language. I'm language learner and as an adult I read new words and the sentences but softly. When reading newspapers and books I read them silently for I enjoy the contents read but not learning language. Reading out the story will distract my concentration on reading. Happy posting

If I am reading I like to be silent, but If I am learning something or doing it I will tend to make a few nosies or sing.

No I never make sound from my mouth while I reading or learning. I always read it in my mind. But there are many peoples who are making sound from their mouth when they reading or learning. I think this is a kind of their habits because they believe if they doing this then they soon learn it. But I am not think so.

Maybe they are just used to it, I used to read aloud and study aloud when I was young, since that's how the teacher teaches us.. But then as I grew older I preferred to read silently, just use my eyes since I learn better with it. Some of my classmates still read aloud though, so I am forced to read aloud since I can't concentrate..

No I never do that. This remind of my dear friend when I was in school as he really likes to say it loud and that's include examination time as well. I still remember I need to asked him to stopped it and it failed. Fortunately the teacher came and asked him to stopped it. I think he just can't control it as he's so excited to read them~

Hello siliguri, most of the time I am quiet while reading because besides the learning and pleasure of reading, I also enjoy being alone and having a peace of mind while reading. But there are times when I have to mumbled or read silently over and over again to understand the real meaning of what I am reading.

yes i do make the sounds while reading but i do not shout i just speak it slowly so i can only hear it clearly.i apply this method only if i read something what i need to memorize. if i am reading something like i do not need to remember like newspaper than i just go through it silently. now i think to speak the words while you are reading is a good method to memorize something while you are reading.because it increase your concentration as you are away from the other external noise. you will also find that this method decreases the thoughts popping up in your mind while you are reading.so you can remember more.
