I live in another country for more than two years now.. I am a student and before I can proceed to my program, i studied the country's language for a year. Its quite exciting and i find this new language so beautiful. But then i am wondering why some countries requires foreigners to learn the country's language when in fact there is the English as the Universal Language. Have you wonder such language learning is required in some countries?

Learning foreign languages is always so exciting and very useful. I travel a lot to countries in different parts of the world , on holidays and on business trips. It is always helpful if one can speak the language of the country, again whether on holiday or business trips. One can have things progress easier and faster.

Well english is indeed an international language, as actually french and germany. ( and more maybe, but I can't remember now). Some countries do ask for the foreigners to learn their language maybe because not many people actually know english (a very good example is Japan. They might be genius at technology and other stuff, but not many students nor adults know english.). There might be people that deny learning exactly english( example: France. French people and british people always had something to share so they don't like each other, and because of this french people demand that foreigners to learn their language. They find themselves insulted if someone speaks with them in english and not in french- but that applies to the majority.) Another reason may be cultural heritage. They may not wish their culture to dissapear slowly( language has a very big importance in a countries heritage, it is it's own treasure.) This may be a reason why some countries have such demands.
