..but it seems this level of basic care was ignored at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. The article (and video) below is truly shocking and I reckon those responsible shouldn't only be sacked but PUT IN PRISON for what they did. Appalling state of affairs and I often think of my brother and his problems with alcohol a few years back. Fortunately, he's given up alcohol altogether but he could quite easily have been in a similar situation to the young man in the video, who also had drug-related problems on top of his alcoholism. My heart goes out to his parents. http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Peter-Thompsons-Parents-Slam-Hospital-Over-His-Death-Saying-They-Treated-Him-Like-Dead-Animal/Article/201106216008235?lpos=UK_News_Carousel_Region_2&lid=ARTICLE_16008235_Peter_Thompsons_Parents_Slam_Hospital_Over_His_Death_Saying_They_Treated_Him_Like_Dead_Animal

I agree, especially when two of them were sacked and another suspended. No doubt one of our infamous "inquiries" will ensue but nothing will come of it.

That is completely out of order. Everybody deserves to be treated with respect no matter who they are, how old they are, or how much money they have. I have seen far too many stories on the news lately about how people are being totally disrespected, and it just isn't on at all. There needs to be some checks on hospitals and nursing homes so that people can see how the patients are being treated, because they are human beings right up until the end of their lives, and should be treated as such.

I agree. I've seen lots of suffering lately. Did you see that Panorama investigation last week? Shocking! I reckon the good nurses, carers and doctors should walk about with hidden cameras on them, then they should submit their evidence (anonymously if they so wish) to the likes of the News of the World - who, when they get their finger out, can actually be a force for good instead of writing mindless articles about celebrities' lovelives. I really should've persued investigative jounalism as I'm its biggest fan!

@ Janey......why dont you? Why not go to those places and start taking notes or pictures and sell them to the newspapers? I know what I'll do when I can stop working

Sadly there are a number of incidents like this that happen. And each of them are equally disturbing in many ways. If that's what we hear, just imagine what gets covered up a lot of the time. It is enough to make you shudder a lot of the time. Therefore it does make people wonder a lot of the time. A hospital is one place that should be trusted and you should trust that you should be treated with the utmost respect. No matter what. Its not the place of the hospital to make judgments or anything. Yet, they do not. The people there should be fired...out of a cannon potentially. This is just one of the many cases as I have said that have come up that made me wonder what is going on in this world. This is really an awful piece of a news. It is really does make you rather sick to your stomach in many ways. Such a wretched and disturbing incident. Anything that these people could be punished with, one could really make the argument that it is far more than they deserve. So disturbing indeed.

I have a horrible feeling they'll just get reprimanded and that's it. Makes me wonder what kind of training (if any) they've received.
