I really hope the government (referring to the barangay officials) will be active in preventing major floods in the area. Besides, the safety and wellness of these folks are their job. In the end, we will only hear excuses such as no budget. It'll be a blame game for the officials and the townspeople... much like what happened in the Ondoy calamity

Same old story, the reason is no budget, but how many times they declare their place as area of calamity and there is a huge budget in that. All are in the pockets of some greedy officials.:(

This is very sad. This is happening in our country every rainy season, yet our government has nothing to do with calamities or not even funding these calamities that usually comes to our country. When will our officials give the right service and care the citizen needs of this country.

True, year in and year out, flooding has been a very big part of our lives in the Philippines. While it is also true that the government has a big role in preventing these occurences. It is also important to remember that we also have to be vigilant in doing things as not to contribute to flooding such as being conscious in things such as proper waste disposal and the like.

Yes,people need to be educated about the proper waste disposal, because it is really a big contribute in flooding. Also plant more trees.Hope the government will be vigilant enough and continue this clean and green project.

I think the city engineering department should provide a good drainage system. They should know the flow of water. As a good citizen we should also know the proper waste disposal, put your trash to the proper place and plant some trees to prevent flood. The citizen should know the right place to put up their houses.

I saw the news recently about the flooding. It is indeed sad to see this thing happening. I too hope that the problem will be resolve soon. It has affected a lot of people and even classes in different schools have no room for classes since the classroom have also been flooded. I hope that this will problem will not elevate more to a point where life will be taken. True indeed, the government should work faster and hope that people in the community will also help.

I'm quite happy to announce that our city won the prestigious United Nations' "Best Practices Award" in recognition of its efforts to protect water resources in the country, and at the same time, provide livelihood to hundreds of needy Filipinos thru the Villar foundation. It is also in line with "Sagip Ilog" or save the river wherein all our waterways were dredged and cleared. I think it's a good example of what Filipinos can achieve if we all work together. It seldom floods in our place and if ever, water recedes very fast although I have noticed water levels especially in our creeks going up than what it was when we moved in during the seventies, probably because of climate change. You can read all about the award that is not only for the people of our city but for the all Filipinos here http://www.villarfoundation.org/news.php?subcat=&page=3

We cant stop floods here in our country until all the esteros ( small rivers ) are cleaned. There are informal settlers under the bridge and becoming the source of garbage that are being thrown into those esteros. The government must make a move to relocate those informal settlers and clean the small rivers so the rain water may now flow to those rivers to prevent floods.
